I actually brought my bike from Ranchi to Chennai. I got the NOC from Ranchi RTO. Now whats the time limit in which i have to re register my bike. I mean to pay the fresh taxes.

[^^/quote^^Apurv]

You need topay fresh taxes within 1 year from the date on which the NOC was obtained.

Hi Rohan ask someone in Chenai to apply for an NOC for your bike and once you get that in hand you can pay taxes at B'lore

hi..

but how much will the road tax be?

I have just had a chat with an officer at the Chennai RTO, my car is two years old and they say that I would haveto pay lifetime tax once again at Chennai on the invoice value of the car and not on the depreciated value. They also showed me a circular in the matter. This means that even after paying lifetime tax on teh car in Maharashtra wahile buying it, I would have to pay lifetime tax once gain on the full value at Chennai. This is like looting people.

In the meantime, the general know-how/procedure I know is....

Obtaining of NOC is not a complicated procedure - you need to apply / fill up a form requesting for an NOC in favour of Pune RTO. It can be easily obtained through an Agent by paying a nominal fee & charges (things move efficiently through agents in RTOs). You will then require to get your bike re-registered at Pune by paying tax afresh.  You can claim the life time tax, if paid at Chennai, for refund - it will be refunded on pro-rata basis.  This is a time consuming - get it done through an agent & a local (Chennai) friend to follow-up.

However, in your case, as you are to re-locate only for a year or so, you may not obtain NOC / get the bike transferred/re-registered (at Pune).  I think (not sure) there is some provision for the purpose of retaining the same registration in other state/s for 1 year.  In any case, normally transferable people do not get it transferred / re-registered - they conitnue to use the vehicle with the same registration in the new state even for longer periods, and generally there's no problem, as such.

Agents (in Chn) asking Rs 2000 for getting NOC. and while re registering bike (pulsar) Blore RTO asking 4000 Rs.

Its really too much... There should be some online form to get the NOC...

I am again going through the same pain.My bike was a karnataka registration.I shifted to chennai in 2005.In Banaglore I got the NOC in Rs. 1000 and within two days. Now I am again re-locating to Delhi. The agent is asking for Rs.1800 and 7-10 days.Certainly things has changed a lot in three years. And,when you are in chennai it's a struggle to get anything due to language barrier.I re-registered my bike here and it cost me around 60000 for the whole process.

Wish there could be any online procedure.Does anyone know any grievance cell for this ?
