Hi Neeraj, Yes you are right. The Car starts on Petrol, and then after reachign a particular RPM , it changes over to CNG. Its always done that way.

Cheers.

@ Aby, Oh so he puts CNG on Hyundai Vehicles ?

Its always safer to go to workshops who actually work for these big brands. They obviously wont give us those huge discounts, but we can be sure of getting a warranty from them, and that he won't run away.

Well Corolla till now hasn't given any trouble, except that its changeover switch got stuck, so it won't change ! Got it changed without any charges ofcourse that's about it. I am happy

Hi neeraj,You can get it fitted with a CNG kit that can again be customised with a click of a button[computerised programmimg of the kit],so that you also have an option of starting the vehicle directly on CNG,but guess thats not recommended as people have a habit of not running it on petrol at all...

About the RPM thing well again that can be adjusted so as to on what RPM you want that changeover to happen...

By the way which part of india are you from?

@Karan:Yeah thats true.Actually i got my kit from somebodies ref,the kit gave problem, and owing to my restless behaviour i had to convince my cousin that its indeed troubling me...So he referred me to this guy at hyundai who is a genious and due to companie's policy charges good money as well...i got the entire kit except the cylinder replaced and i threw back the ones installed at previous installers face...LOL

I didnt pay a thing because of my cousin...[internal settings you see]

I am satisfied as ever...Only the minor issue that still remains is the ECM light that doesnt go away...since the install of the first kit its switched on [petrol and cng],

got the ECM diagnosed...it didnt detect any faulty code...

That has stopped bothering me now...

IRONY:The entire replacement thing happened because of the ECM light...LOL

But at the end of the day i realised few parts fixed by the previous guy were not genuine...

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

I am from Noida and I think the car when starting on CNG takes a little longer time as compared to a petrol start this tend to reduce engine parts life. This is good that the car now starts on petrol becuase I hav seen quite a few cars on CNG people just hang on the self till the time the car starts.

Really ? And that guy actually took it back ? ALso, didn't you pay him right at the time you got it fixed ? Or did you mean you took your money back ?

Yes, Amit its true your warranty would be void if that happens. So i wouldn't really suggest you to get it from outside.

By suggestion would be to wait till your warranty gets over and then put it from outside. the 30thousand extra that you would paying, (if you get it from Hyundai itself), won't be easily recovered, since you would be paying double of what others are paying.

So use it on petrol tight now. And Convert it the very day your warranty gets over.

Feel free to ask more questions.

Cheers

Thx a lot Karan , by your suggestion i have to wait for - year ok. One doubt will warranty void on whole car or just on engine as CNG fittment will only related to engine.

Amit K

Hi Amit,

the engine warranty would be void. Also the warranty with santro is for 2 years. i would suggest you that if u move more than 60 kms a day then dont wait for a year and get a cng kit fitted in ur car as soon as you cover around 15-20K kms coz until then u wud be sure abt the engine of ur car. if u dont feel any sort of problem until then, then i feel it wud be safe enuf to let the warranty get void coz anyway a tested engine is not going to crash as soon as the warranty voids. And you wud be saving a lot on ur running costs......
