a related thought that came to mind ............................

driving in neutral esp at high speeds ............ is a highly unsafe driving habit !

Very true - it's highly unsafe & not recommended at all. Hope Sumod is listening.

Nevertheless, the car should not get switched-off & the problem should be resolved.

I genrally dont keep the gear neutral at high speed but as a habit i am intrigue to do experiments and i thought that with CNG car should not stop when car is neutral at high speed i.e. at about 80 kmph..

It's not advisable, as, in some eventuality or sudden obstacle appearing etc., you will not be able to control the car that effectively as you would normally be able to do.  So, it's very risky to form such a habit. Take care

ur right sumod ............. no car .... irrespective of th fuel on which it is runing ........ shoud stall when in neutral

i do not hv experience on cng ........... so hv refrained from commenting ........... but from th outside .... it appears that either this is a common problem in cng faced by all ................ or else it is a setting problem relating to ur car

I understand from a few CNG owners & a retrofitter here in Gujarat (Surat), that this is not a common problem.  Besides, on Sumod enquiring with MSM, they said that such a problem is faced in 'some cars' (post #6).

So, we hope the problem is soon resolved for Sumod

It's wierd.

I dont face such a problem on my city.

Maybe a service of the kit is needed. Each and every point needs to be checked.

I agree driving in neutral at high speed is crazy! But if you can see a good 100 M ahead with no trafic go ahead and safe petrol or CNG or LPG.

Cheers

hi friends,  thanks a lot for the feedback ..it was an interesting experience with the C NG problems... I was really  shocked, that how the authorised dealer can mislead the customers... I will tell you the sequence..

I was facing the problem because my driving habit is, to neutral the car at high speed when i see any stoppage in the way ... so that car can cover some distance due to the inertia .... with petrol there was no problem at all.. but with CNG the car was not able to maintain the flow at high speed therefore car engine stops whenever i keep the car neutral after attaining high speed ...

the dealer from which i got the CNG installed told me to get the car scanning done .. in which throttle valve is cleaned but this is a costly affair... He told me that there might be the problem with sensor of the car ...

but when I took my car to MSM i.e. Maruti Service Master they gave me the right advice and asked me to not to keep the car neutral at high speed ..... and the car is running fine even when its cold outside.... now my problem is solved ....

Thanks to MSM for the right advice.. and thanks to u all for the advice... great learning from the problems...

Sumod ...d advice given to u is not only RIGHT but Safe too...NEVER to dat to ur car in high speeds....

okay....bt abt ur problem....i dnt think ur problem has been rectified....

if the car is neutral...it doesnt matter whether it is stationary or at 100 kms per hr...it should NOT stop!...... if its engine switches of at 80-85...den it wud stop while idling at zero too....since the phonominon is the same..... n obvously d cars engine being a machine...does not kno whether the car is moving or not,if its in neutral !..

so make sure it gets solved

Karan, not sure if it is a common CNG problem. Because I have seen the cabbies in Mumbai do that (to save fuel!!) and their vehicles have not stopped, unless and untill they have run out of gas.

Guess it's a tuning issue, and needs to be sorted post consultation with a certified retrofitter. Nitish, let me know if this issues still persists.

I have an LPG fitted in my City and I do not face any such issue.
