...In my opinion, its completely individuals choice and comfort...

I guess here we can just discuss he pros and cons of these cars but not judge as to which is best...

...its about personal comfort, ability to handle the car, ability to purchase the car and requirements that decide which car is BEST SUITED FOR HIM.

Here in Carwale, we help others understand the different aspects of cars and their pros and cons that would help them in buying a car...

...I would urge all the members to please understand this gesture and avoid judging any car is best or worst. Our motto is to help not to decide or judge.

True.  All cars are good.  We should impartially list out the pros & cons (all cars have), and suggest based on asker's budget, type of usage/run, preferences & likes/dislikes (and not based on our personal perspectives).

Guys my 2 cents..i owned a scorpio for 4 years and must say i pretty satisfied with it. When i decided to upgrade i was divided between Scorpio and Safari. Almost everyone advised me against buying a Safari and most forums also encouraged me to either go for a scorpio or a Innova. I went ahead and bought a Safari. One year later...this is my story

SAFARI ROCKS...i am totally in love this car and i am glad i wasn't influenced by these forums and the naysayers . Scorpio is a decent buy and you wont go wrong by buying it...but Safari is nirvana.

Having owned both, in my opinion Safari is the king !! its gives me an adrenalin rush even after a year..i now know about 20-30 Safari owners and the all feel the same.

i aint saying buy a Safari..but dont get influenced by nay sayers..all the stories abt Safari is perception..half the guys writing that here have never driven or owned a Safari...once who have...will only have good things to say..

Hey Kanyadi...

This sounds good and finally a waord from some one who owns both..!! yes you are right most of the people have not driven/owned a safari who write the other way..!!

Must say.. i am about to take a decision.. and had to literraly hunt for peopel who had a good word about the safari.. so let me ask you some of the obvious problems i heard about this "TATA CAR"

- hows been the service record and the problems, tough only a year i assume you haev not faced any..!!

- does the quality of the Body of the jeep a problem - as compared to scorpio.

- scorpio now comes with Mhawk engine..(all variants) how do you feel about that aas compared to the new safari.

Belive me i love the looks of the safari..but just that heard so much bad about it over the years that just thining of closing in a scorpio (they say its more reliable) than any TATA car.

So what has changed..!!  --- have to close out on one of them next month..!!

Cheers..!!

Ashish,

Let me do an comparison which probably might help or confuse you further

Scorprio

Pros

  1. More reliable in build quality, fit and finish than Safari especially the new Mhawk
  2. Very good turning radius, easy to maneuver around turns
  3. Mhawk is fuel efficient and very peppy as well
  4. Good resale value

Cons

  1. Poor suspension
  2. Handling especially highways
  3. Space and Comfort
  4. Looks and SUV appeal ( Its a personal opinion, i think it lacks an SUV character)

Safari

Pros

  1. Handling, mind blowing.
  2. Comfort , Space : Awesome space and comfort for both front and rear passengers
  3. Very good equipment for the price. although its disappointing that Air bags are not part of either LX or EX versions
  4. Looks and SUV appeal

Cons

  1. Build quality is inferior as compared to Scorpio but its been over exaggerated. I haven't had any issues so far and couple of my friends own it for few years now and they haven't faced any major issues. However the fit and finish could have been lot better.
  2. Turning radius. Can be challenging while taking U turns. Apart from that, its a myth that you cant drive a big car in the city. Its again a mental make up. I drive in bangalore in the most crowded roads during peak hours for long stretches and its never been a problem
  3. Resale value : I am not suggesting its poor, but due to the perceived problems of a Safari, you may not get a great deal while selling your Safari.

At the end of it, if you want to make a logical buy..Go for a Scorpio..Safari is a "Dillogical buy" its like comparing a Royal Enfield with Bajaj Pulsar. On the face of it, Pulsar has the latest engine, better resale so a logical evaluation would suggest you to buy Pulsar. But people who want a Royal enfield will settle for no less

If you buy a Scorpio..you have made a wise choice...if you buy a Safari...you have made a great choice Tongue out

Absolutely Correct Kanyadi. I guess this is the best one liner for people trying to buy either a safari or scorpio. They most of the times end up comparing each other, but actually they are two diff item with their own charms.

That was a nice objective review Kanyadi. Thanks for it.

For city driving it's the Scorpio - for long highway cruising it's the Safari.

I have no idea about all Safari owners, but yes I do. And I love them just for their charm they carry, even with all the cons, if you really want to point out. Their pros or their image ias much more to be proud off. I dont bother about cons
