Performance does drop but yo can always tune the system at the fitting centre to match your needs. ZGenerally done after the first tankfull is consumed so that the millage and performance can be monitored for that duration.

Thank you very much for your reply. I heard that the engine performance,  speed & pick-up is compromised with shifting to LPG. Kindly Advice further on this.

Currently my monthly usage is approx. 1600km/month in highway & approx 200km/month in the city of hyderebad. Petrol gves me an avg. of 14/lit in optimal conditions.

Pl also let me know some good quality LPG kits & if possible, lpg fitment center in hyderabad.

Diesel cars are fuel efficient and also easy to maintain compared to Petrol cars. they are also less [polluting and affordable too.

I differ with you there. Diesel engines are actually more polluting than Petrol engines, and are more expensive to maintain. With the advent of Common Rail / Direct Injection technology, it is becomimg more cleaner and easier to maintain now-a-days.

As diesel can be compressed without the risk of explosion, the diesel engines use a higher compressions ratio which gives more power with less fuel in the charge, and this is what makes it more fuel efficient. The downside is more vibration due to high compression ratios.

As far the affordability goes, due to the diesel/petrol price difference the manufactures prices the diesel engines higher than the petrol engines and hence or costlier than the petrol engines (to own and to maintain)

The Indica Turbo is good car even if using abt 200 kms. And  specially if u want deccent performance at a low cost. Decent reliability and gud economy. But all this provided u use the car for abt 3-5 yrs. Only then does the investment be covered.

Modern diesels are as cheap to maintain as petrol ones. Indica diesels included. But one important thing is abt emision control. Emision quality deterioration is higher in petrols as compared to diesels. The reason, there is no spark plug that detiorates with every spark. hnce advisable to change the spark plugs every year or every 50k-60k kms.

Diesel engines are less polluting than Petrol, for sure.  Diesel engines these days are very refined.  Maintenance & service cost is no more as high as it used to be earlier - it is now only a little more than Petrol. Performance, pick-up/acceleraton & all that too are virtually as good as Petrol ones. Diesel engines, as we all know, is more fuel efficient & economical than Petrol ones.  It costs more for the fact that it is stronger, sturdier & have better longevity - resultantly, it has better resale value too.

I am planning to give a gift to a relative in Hyderabad.  This young woman is a housewife with two babies.  She may drive3- 4 times in a week, perhaps no more than 20 - 30 KM per trip.  I want to buy either i10 - Hyundai or Tata Indica V2.  The former uses petrol, the later car uses diesel.

We use only lead-free high octane petrol in the States.  I will appreciate if any one can recommend one or the other and why.  Thanks.

For the type of usage/run (& the person; woman), i10 is definitely more preferable to Indica - no 2nd thought about it.

i10 is a good car with decent mileage (generally 13/14 in city & 16/17 on highway - Indian conditions).  If buget is not a constraint, consider i10 1.2 (Kappa) - it has better/improved technology, gives more power & torque without compromsing on mileage (if not better).  But, as such, it is not required for the type of usage/run & the person/woman you intend to gift the car.

By the way, for further discussions, I suggest you create a new thread & post your query there - so that it is noticed well by all & you receive good response.  If you wish to do so, here's a LINK that will help - just type a title for your query/thread, post your query in the space provided therein below, scroll down & save.

Tahnks a lot, Mr. Pankaj. Wrt lpg dealers, I did some search yesterday & have selected 2 vendors.

Hello Mr. Bhuvaneshwari Bhan,

I was going through this thread as I'm also looking forward to retrofit my car with LPG kit.

I reside in Hyderabad and am unable to figure out where to get the retrofitment done.

I guess you might have already converted your car to LPG, please suggest the workshop where should I get the retrofitment done.

Also share your experience you had after the retrofitment.

If any word of causion you want to give, please do.

TIA,

Sarfraz
