hi Mark.... i hope all ur queries hav been answered by Pankaj......   so wen do u plan to purchase the car of ur choice.......n hav u made a choice yet ???.........

keep us posted.....

cheers...

In reference to the calculations quoted earlier, running cost (per km) of DUO & Swift both will work out to more or less same - Rs.2.25 in city & Rs.1.75 on highway.  However, running cost of DUO will reduce considerably if Domestic LPG Cyclinder is used for refilling (but it's illegal).

I heard that the engine performance,  speed & pick-up is compromised with shifting to LPG. Kindly Advice further on this.

Pl also let me know some good quality LPG kits & if possible, lpg fitment center in hyderabad.

if a good italian kit is fit by an lpg professional ..................... no difference can b observed in th engine performance or speed or th pick up of th car between petrol n lpg ................................ th whole issue of compromise in performance has gained ground coz consumers do not take th trouble of locating n paying for th best kit n fitter in their city .............. as a result of which most lpg users end up becoming unsatisfied

sum o th better known italian lpg kits r ............... lovato .... brc .......... omvl ........ zavoli (distributed from hyd) etc ..................

zavoli of italy is distributed by a company called standard consultants at hyd .......................... i think ur best bet wud b to get it fit fom them .................... unless u kno sum other reliable fitter ........

do remember .............. for end performance .... quality of th fitter is far more imp than th quality of th kit

Honestly, as of now I'm not very conversant about LPG/CNG conversions (trying to acquire knowledge from Vidhur, a fellow member of ours).

1 kg LPG is equivalent to 1.66 ltr LPG.  Regarding mileage, as I understand, LPG doesn't improve the mileage of the car it reduces the running cost - for instance, if your Indica (Petrol) gives you a mileage of say 10 the running cost is Rs.5 per km (Petrol Rs.50 per ltr).  After conversion to LPG, it will continue to give the mileage of 10 but the running cost will reduce to Rs.3 per km (LPG Rs.30 per ltr).  The running cost will reduce further if you can refill through domestic cyclinder (14.200 kg), as it's cheaper and also because the density of kg is more than litre (1 kg = 1.66 ltr).

ur quite knowledgeable urself pankaj .................. but acknowledging me in an alien thread .. unknown to me even though u r th moderator.................... well im truly honoured ............... n hats off to u dear ................. ur modesty is commendable friend

1 kg lpg = 1.82 ltr lpg app

density n character is th same ........... its just that 1 kg is much more quantity than 1 ltr of lpg

n plz for heavens sake pankaj ................... stop suggesting to readers to fill from domestic lpg cylinders

filling from kitchen lpg cylinder is not only illegal (cud land u in jail) ..... its highly unsafe (u n ur family n others cud lose lives) .... n of coz its unethical (ur usurping th subsidy meant for th poor)

Can someone let me know, the process for lpg retrofitment in state wherein the vehicle is currently not registered with.

eg. retrofitment in Gujrat / AP for a Maharashtra registered vehicle.

all lpg fitments compulsarily require pre-fitment permission and post fitment inspection. both these can ONLY b done by th rto with which th car is regd ........ i e in th city n state of its regn ..............n nowhere else

therefore ..................... th car has to b sent to th cty of its regn

its another matter if u can manage by just sending th reqd documents thru a resourceful agent to th rto of regn .... n get away without producing th car in that city

there is no other way

Vidhur,

Honestly speaking, I now know a few things about LPG & CNG because I went through your posts on various threads & also because thereafter I once went to a local LPG retrofitter enquiring about a few doubts.

Regarding use of domestic LPG, yes it's definitely illegal.  I have always said that on other threads in similar context, but somehow I missed to mention it here.  I'm really sorry for that.  In fact, I should not have even mentioned the running cost on domestic LPG - though I did it only for the pupose of statistical analysis, not realising that it could be misinterpreted as recommendation.

Vidhur,

Regarding moderatorship, as you know, I'm first a member like you & others. I'm made a moderator basically to help Banwari/Ashish in keeping the forums clean, organised & meaningful.  I'm not a technical person at all in any regard - I don't even have a science background.

I try & participate as much as I can & share the information I have - many of which are gathered from the forums itself (like from you in case of LPG).  There are times when I fumble.... I'm learning & enjoy every bit of it.

Petrol prices are going up by Rs 5, diesel by 3 .... Auto gas (LPG) has gone up by Rs. 2.50 already.

Switching to LPG is recommended: Here is some links for LPG filling stations in Bangalore and other cities.
