If you just want to check the mobile maps.  start the maps in your mobile,  but i noticed that 3G will be suitable for viewing maps on mobile.  2G speed is quite slow.

If I download maps software from map my india , does it require network to show routes or will it work with gps provided co ordinates, I am assuming that it should work on GPS provided co ordinates irrespective of network availability. ?

1. How much is data download if navigation ( pont A to Pont B )done using network for a mobile handset which carried GPS receicer ?

I belive this must be a small data , easily possible even on 2G slow networks?, as only a small string of co-ordinates we are downloading.

How is the performance of Nokia OVi maps based navigation which is network independent. How it compares with standalone Navigation devices?

I think map data providers will always charge the updates as that will be their major earning source, offcource they must be pensing money to gather the new data.

What is the best free navigation solution for Android phones?
