Hi,

From various threads one thing which becomes clear is that DiCOR seems to be better engine type as compared to non-DiCOR.

However one of the popular websites suggests that for TATA Indigo the LX/LS TDI is much better in performance as compared to LX/LS DiCOR. Could anyone verify the same?

Regards,

Bhushan

The DIcor is the better form of TDI , the DIcor has the Direct injection system and the TDi has only a Turbo and indierct injection , which mke DICOR more ppowerful and fuel efiiceit but 50k rs more , is slight high

cheers,

Sri

Yes, it is said that DiCOR version has uniform supply of power & torque as compared to TDi, translating into better performance.  But, contrary to this, Indigo TDi is known to have more VFM & better performance.

I guess higher price of 30-35k for Dicor is justified (atleast for me). But what i fail to understand is that Dicor version is reported to give 1. Lower mileage (12.4 Dicor vs 12.5 TDI) 2. Weaker perfromance.

If i am not wrong then Dicor provides 70bhp @ 4000 rpm and Torque of 140Nm @ 1800 - 3000 rpm. Higher torque at lower rpm should increase mileage as well as give better performance in terms of better pulling. And i guess even the band of 1800 - 3000 rpm is pretty wide enough.

I can understand that twin cam could possibly explain Dicor's higher noise level. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

Thanks. Bhushan

Just wanted to add that i haven't road tested the car. I was sharing the information which i had gathered from various sources (websites, magazines & dealers). Also while writing about Dicor i had the Hyundai Verna CRDI engine which is known for its performance.

Thanks. Bhushan

DiCOR is definitely a better technology, as delay time in fuel injection is less than that in TDi & pick-up on account of which is better.  However, the fact is that Indigo TDi is known to perform better than Indigo DiCOR. TDi gives a mileage of 11.5/13 in city & 16.5/18 on highway while DiCOR will give 11/12.5 in city & 16/17.5 on highway.  The other differences between the two I have noted are as under:

TDi (1405 CC) generates power 70/4500 rpm & torque 125/2500 rpm, while DiCOR (1396 CC) generates power 70/4000 rpm & torque 140/1800 rpm.  Bore of both these are 75mm, while Stroke of TDi is 79.5 against DiCOR's 79.  Compresssion Ratio of TDi is 21 as against DiCOR's 18.5.

Actually, to my understanding, I feel that Indigo DiCOR is not better than Indigo TDi , as it should otherwise/normally be, because DiCOR technology is new to Tata while they have mastered the TDi technology for so many years.  Probably for the same reason, the engine noice of DiCOR is high - it is so only when ideal but once it's running, the noice is almost as normal as it should be.  May be with time, once Tata masters this DiCOR technology, the problems would be resolved & DiCOR would perform like it should (better than TDi).

The proposed Tata-Fiat Indica V3 (1.3) is also not based on Multijet - it's based on DiCOR.
