Still, I dont like Maruti people. They dont give any discounts on Swift. Even Honda starts giving discount. The Maruti Suzuki has become arrogant by virtue of their market standing. They need to be taught a lesson. But then, their products are great which explains why they dont care much.

Dont mind, the reasoning goes bad. Have you seen any company offer discount on cars it can easily sell. Maruti dealers does offer discounts on cars that are present in huge numbers in their stockyard. Swift doesn't quite fall into that category. The ABS version does have waiting and also the diesel versions.

Still I've seen discounts on swift. Before the CENVAT most dealers in bangalore and hyderabad offered discounts upto 20k. However I took the car from Thrissur, kerala. I could manage a disount of only 5k. While in the neighbouring district of cochin it was 10k. Cochin/Hyderabad/Bangalore has multiple dealers so they are forced to give discounts to woo the customers.

Arrogance - Something which I've not seen from Maruti side. Some dealers does show that though. Maruti customers are the happiest customers in India. After sales service network are also the best.

There is one thing which Maruti need to improve - rear seat space. The biggest drawback in swift and A-star.

I agree. A Star has no rear space and boot space.

I tried this and I had understeer, I tried that and I had oversteer, at the end of the corner I just ran out of talent!

I don't know why you have not seen "arrogance" Sealed But, when I went to enquire about Zxi , they were behaving like it was my necessity to buy Swift not their !!! Or may be it was just an error of judgement. One thing more: Do you say you got discount ? How come ? Here they plainly refused to give any saying " arre bhayi yeh gadi to pehle se hi booking par hai, discount kaise/kyun denge ?"

Is this the case only in Punjab ?

@Daljit: What is it that you're looking for, in your new ride - resale, low maintenance costs, looks, FE, fun to drive factor,...? This way, you'll be able to get better suggestions!

What if I said (ahem..) I want all these Smile

Actually, the more I read about both the cars, the more confused I became !

Undecided

I completely agree with you. Dealers only offer discounts on petrol version and not on diesel version(they have booking for it).

I had faced this same issue when I went to check for WagonR Duo when it was launched in hyderabad. I had been to a showroom with a friend of mine. They behaved in the same way. They were acting as if it was our necessity. Just because of this he went to take Santro. Thankfully it was a good car. I had the same experience from the showroom I was going to take. The first execuitive was not offering a single discount and was acting as if it was my need. I contacted another executive, I said I am dealing with so and so person. He didn't budge much. A friend of mine forwarded my number to a third person. He was jovial, treated me like a customer and gave me a good discount.

In short what I can say is that you can blame dealers/executives. Dealers take you for granted when there is only one outlet. It wont be just if you blame Maruti for that. They have kept on calling me 4-5 times after the delivery of the car. They enquired about how was my experience etc etc to the minutest of the detail.

'How come ? Here they plainly refused to give any saying " arre bhayi yeh gadi to pehle se hi booking par hai, discount kaise/kyun denge ?"' - I got the same reply when I asked about diesel.

BTW this case is common for all dealers/executives/states.

Just try the way I did. Maybe it'll help you.

Friends...

I was out of station. Much water has flown since we last posted anything over here...

So, in the changed scenario, what are the options ? I went to Tata motors for fiat Palio. The guy turned out to be my known. He advised me to wait for Grande Punto.

All the enthusiasm I once had again vanished. This car buying has become more of a headache friends Frown

I am not sure when this Punto would come !

God !

Not exactly. He was not sure. He said the Fiat is tight lipped on this. But surely it will come in the next half of the year. But he said, it would be a car worth the wait. . .  A kind of King of the Road and off the Road ! A great built quallity.

At the same time, there will be another hot hatchback comming : Jazz !

Exciting times comming folks. It would be very interesting to choose between these two !
