Yes yes you are right guys.... The overall thing i believe is that EPS is the better of the two. Have you heard about the Electro-Hydraulic System in the SKODA FABIA? Its good but more complicated. Whats your say?

That’s EHPS – also known as hybrid.  It uses hydraulic assist technology but the pressure is pumped through electric motor.

I heard it has a combo like steering of both EPS and HPS which is used in different situations as said in autocar

As explained by Pankaj-its a hybrid-but the systems does not work separately(depending on the situation).

Yes, it doesn't work separately.

By the way, what does the Autocar say?

I just took delivery of a new Swift Dzire (Vxi) for my wife and in laws. After getting used to this car, I tried a quick lane change on the wide road near Sion flyover. I have to say that I did not feel comfortable at all, and quickly reverted to a very sedate driving style.

I have to add that the Dzire Vxi had stock wheels/tyres (165/80-R14), whereas my Santro had alloy wheels (5J). Still the Santro's HPS was sufficiently tight and gave excellent steering response, inspring great confidence for rapid lane changes and high speed cornering. But Dzire's EPS felt very light and I feared that I might lose control as I made the quick lane change. Maybe wider tyres and alloy wheels will help. Or maybe I need to get used to the Dzire's steering response. But I am certain that I will never drive the Dzire "Santro style", to my wife's great relief.

Srini -the 165 section tyres are really small for the VXi-you would best know what a good set of wider tyres would do.

For your style i would recommend the pirelli pilot preceda tyres-the dynamics will be completely different.

Another economical and middle of the road solution would be the Michellin XM1+ energy series tyres.

The 'nervessness' of the car is not because of the EPS(which hardly plays any role) but because of the un-acclimatised steering effort for the dzire compared to the Santro.

@Binoy: Thanks for the info. I did try to convince my wife to exchange the stock rims of the Vxi for the alloys used in the ZXi model of the Dzire. But she refused, saying the expenditure is not justified since the car will be used mainly in Mumbai city and will be driver-driven. She also refused the suggestion for the wider tyre size (185/70-R14) used in Zxi for the same reason.

Maybe my wife fears that once these changes are done, I will take over the Dzire and give her my old Santro! No chance of that happening, because my 11-year old son will be going to school in the Dzire and will fry me alive if I lay my hands on it. Besides, I just love my old Santro, which is still going strong and looks good for another one lakh kms.
