yes man i10 is a very good car & worth bying it. i would suggest u go with the new 1.2ltr kappa engine as it is more refined, powerful & economical too. version depends on u that which 1 u can afford, if price is not a concern than who not go with the to end model where u get great style & good convinience. automatic cars are good especially for city use where there is more traffic, in this conditions it reduces the stress & its easy to drive but it will not give u the mileage similar to the manual car it will give 1-2 points less & when u will go to sell the car it will not fetch u the price compared to a manual one, but thats not a really big deal. if u have more of city use & want a easy to drive car with no hassles of pressing the clutch frequently & changing the gears & can afford a little more amount on ur fuel bills than better go with the automatic or else manual would be a good option.

Hi all,

Im planning to buy i10... I've gone through the entire thread... by end 2007 ... some slashin of prices was expected for i10... did tht happen... Also I've not yet booked... If I book by 1st week of Sep will I get my i by nxt month(wats the waiting period)... This is my first Car.. Plz give the diff between so many models of i10.. i.e..Dlite,Era,Magna,SportzGls...Is autotransmission advisible(AT).. I dont have clarity on AT....can someone explain in detail wats AT...

Yes, i10 has plenty of versions ranging from Rs.3.53 lac to Rs.5.70 lac.  As you have named most of them, I would suggest you to have first-hand info through this LINK - you can compare the prices, specifications, features etc.

1.2 Kappa is has better technology engine that gives better performance/power & torque without compromising on mileage.  AT is automatic transmission of gears - mileage is marginally lesser in AT than in manual gears.  As such, AT is generally not preferred/required.

I  bought my I10 Magna 1.2 kappa in May'09. I saw this thread almost dead since August last, but suddenly active with the latest post.

For once, 1.2 Magna puts to rest all the confusion and justification required for someone to switch from Santro to I10. better engine, interiors, mileage and a proven success.

For me Magna sports wasn't value for that extra 30k(in Gujarat) Extra viper, Fog lamp, 2 tone interiors and 2 DIN mp3 player. For me other features didn't matter except the music system. The dealer threw in the choice of a basic music system or a discount of 5k. I chose discount. I bought a pioneer with USB port and 4 way speakers at 10 k, bought 2 tone upholstery for 5 K. And i still saved 15 k from the sports version. The car otherwise is same.

I am yet to go in for my 1st service, as the dealer said 2 months is my first service due. Overall am satisfied, basically it is used by my wife. It hasn't clocked 1000kms as yet. So difficult to guage the mileage. Only one issue i have faced is of extra noise at low RPMS. not from the engine kncking but due to vibrations which creates some kind of noise like as if something is been kncking inside the glove compatment. Not sure wht it is...if someone know abt this, pls do let me know....

Sameer/Sanjeev, congratulations for the buy.

Sanjeev, i10 generally returns mileage of 12-14 in city & 16-18 on highway.  The vibration at low speed could be due to improper gear-speed ratio. I would recommend... change to 2nd at 10-15, to 3rd at 20-25, to 4th at 30-35 & to 5th at 50-55.

Do both of you keep writing/sharing your experiences. Thanks.
