Hyundai i10is a great car in every sense and   now the company will roll out the  diesel version , which is going to be a great success. The i10 has won many hearts and also awarded as the car of the year.

I purchased I 10 in late january this year. To my shock last weekend my clutch plates got damaged and i had to replace them. The car has travelled 3500 km till date and mostly in city. I have learnt driving on this car only. is there a chance of damage of clutch plates so early and what are the precautions one should follow to avoid damage of clutch plates.

The reason for early clutch failure is because you learned to drive in the car.
To prevent clutch failure:

-dont drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal.
-depress the pedal fully for all gear changes
-dont 'lug' the clutch ie slip the clutch in lower gears, use correct gears for appropriate speeds.

well thats about it..

And what about controlling speed via clutch in really messy traffic. While we move slowly in the traffic is it harmful to control the speed via clutch ? Thanks

Yes, use of clutch for controlling speed harms the clutch.  If you drive in appropriate gears at appropriate speed, you will seldom require to use clutch for the said purpose.

By the way, didn't the dealer cover replacement of clutch plate in warranty?

The dealer will not take the Player back.  You can try for a buy-back from the accessory shop you propose to buy a new Player (in lieu thereof).  But I think you will not get a good bargain, as the company fitted Players normally do not have a good market/demand.

I suggest, use the company player itself for some time - it's not bad.  You may start liking it   If you don't, try for a buy-back later sometime.
