well i too agree to the point tht body can make noise but only to them who dnt care for their cars. i am owing a wagon R frm last 2 yrs and i had never got any such noise frm ma car. i have changed it with the new wagonR lxi. i had tested both the wagonR and santro on highway at a speed of 120 kmph and wht i found was if u are a good and experienced driver, u can easily say that santro is lacking in controll at the high speed. steeting wheel starts jerking  in new car too, just like tht in maruti 800. i tried some small drifts in both the cars and i found tht even on 60's drift, the rubber of  wagonR didnt left the road, here santro again loses its tempre and lifts frm one side. i was really scared to drive such car. overall i will refer wagonR in small car segment ever. AFTER ALL MARUTI IS MARUTI - BY INDIA FOR INDIA.

Hello,

I am thinking of buying a new car (either Santro Xing XO or Wagon R Vxi). I zeroed down to Santro because of its better looks.  However, when I went to the show-room to book the car, to my surprise they told me that Hyundai has stopped XO and XL versions and started selling GLS and GL versions.

GLS (top end version) does not have rear power windows and no rear wash wiper (exactly like WagonR Vxi)! And GLS is costing 17k less than XO version. Hence, I guess Hyundai is not planning to discontinue Santro. They will place PA exactly in between Santro (4lacs) & Getz (5lacs).

Now, I think I should go with WagonR Vxi than Santro GLS! But, based on your discussion if they discontinue WagonR, I will be in trouble by next year. OR I should wait till next year to buy a car.

Any thoughts?

Dear Karan & Sahil,

It seems that topic WAGONR VERSES SANTRO has taken a different turn, irrelevant to comparison. However after going through all the feedbacks/replies to my original message one thing which has come out clearly is that Wagon R wins by a whisker over Santro

hmmm... well n dat whisker too depends frm person to person... so it doesnt really WIN in dat sense....
Exactly.....Everyone has his/her own preferences and requirement......

what is the future of both these cars as both maruti and hundai will be bringing out new cars ( SPLASH AND PA)in same segmenT in the next year. so were will santro and wr stand after that
good question Anurag... these cars also mite be having a 1.2 Engine...n if dats the case .....then the PA n the Splash wud b in a different segment.... n wud b placed along wid the Aveo UVA....
I think that with Pa and Splash, both being for 4 to 5 lacs will eventually replace santro and wagon r......As they offer more space, more features and the price difference is negligible....
well dey'll hav more choice .....so cant say whether dey'll be replaced or not....... Yes... i too feel they'll be slowly phased off..... but lets c what the companies tactics r ...

I feel it may not be easy to discontinue these 2 cars, as they very popular - especially WagonR.
yes dats rite Pankaj....infact the WagonR world over wud b replaced by the Splash...but in India WagonR is a huge success n it continues to sell at its rate....(infact its selling even more) so in India it wont be stopped in the near future..... n the SPlash wud b placed b/w the Swift n the WagonR/Estillo
At the time when zen was being replaced it was selling at a good rate..... I think when Splash will come then more and more people will opt for it insted of Wagon R as it offers more space and features at almost the same price(there would be a marginal inc. which a customer would pay to jump to a bigger car).....So,eventually Wagon R will be stopped/replaced........In the engine also there is a difference of a mere 100 cc which is not much,to start a new segment......
No...the sales of the Zen wer nowher near what it used to b .... yes i agree abt the Splash.... infact in all other countries, its officcially announced that the Splash wil replace its elder sister WagonR...

But the companies have to move on with their stratregy.....With splash and Pa being launched people would forget Wago R and Santro.....As they forgot ZEN.....However,There are many Zen fans still rooting for that car...... I am one of them......
yes sumtin like the NHC n the OHC...... ppl still havent forgotten the Old Honda City....Royal looks plus awesome power/pickup !!!...
Yup...... I assume that NHC is New Honda City and OHC for Old Honda City..... And some still remember the good, old MONDEO.......As its no more india.....
hmm...

Yes, that's how it goes on & on.  But with WagonR the Company may find it more difficult to discontinue than it did with Zen.  WagonR has earned more popularity then any other car in its segment.
ya n same goes 4 d Santro too...
Honda city was also popular at the time of launch of NEw honda city.......The new car proved everything wrong and honda sold this new car as HOT CAKES......
ya... it its sales Got even better !!!!...
