Steering of Santro feels lighter than Indica's but overall feel/balance of Indica's PS is better.

Thats what i feel and hence I ask to Hundai exucative and hence I came to know two typs of power streeing. . . .as I priviously said on santro site it is not mentioned that they have hydrulic power stareeing but on Maruti Suzuki's it is mention loud and as inovation that thy have Electronic power stareeing. . . .

I've been driving wagonr for a year.. Milage in mumbai city traffic 11.5~12.5(with 80%ac)

never drove it on highway.

The best part about this car is the AC. It cools the car even in the afternoon without a sunfilm. Santro AC is not so powerful.

...I am just searching the methods of calculating milage...

The most accurate method (for users like us) to measure the mileage is 'tank-full to tank-full' method.  Get the tank refueled to the fullest - set the trip meter to Zero - drive the car for say 300 kms - get the tank refueled to the fullest again - divide 300 kms (whatever) by the no. of liters refueled.  For instance, if it accommodates 22 liters & is driven for 300 kms, the mileage derived is 13.64.

Wagon generally gives mileage of 13/14 in city & 17/18 on highway (depending upon the driving conditions & style).

@Paresh, AC of WagonR & Santro is equally good. WagonR being a taller car & having more space inside, circulation is better / more comfortable - the difference is noticeable more when fully loaded (passengers).

Honesty is not a Spare Wheel that you pull out when in trouble. It's a Steering Wheel that keeps you on the right path throughout the life's journey.

Guys its my very own experience. I had wagon R and kept it for two years and bought a new santro in 2008. Yes, i agree, wagon R is more confortable and pleasure to drive. It is more roomy than Santro. Santro has better gear shift.better pick up. interior is better than Wagon R but in case of service...wagon R is superior because of Maruti's better service..Since the day one, I am having one or other problem with santro..I have reported the problems with Hyundai people and the dealers but till this day I am taking my santro car more to the dealer for rectification of my problems.....In short whatever the reasons may be..for me WAGON-R is the winner and I am going to dispose of my santro and get a new WAGON-R...THE WINNER..

Santro LPG gives a very poor mileage on city driving conditions. For gives me around 8 km/lit. Hyundai apparently has no experience in making non petrol variants.

Also the Santro LPG models have a very significant design problem with their clutch assemblies. The clutch assembly gets burnt very frequently. I had to replace the entire clutch assembly thrice in a period of 1.5 years. The problem still continues. None of their service-men are able to reapir it. Apparently they are incompetent to handle any such cases.

It is extremely sad that Hyundai customer service is so bad that they hardly bothered to respond to my repeated complaints. They, as usual, blame it on my driving pattern. I, also own Maruti Wagon R, also an LPG model since last 3.5 years and never had a single problem with the vehicle. Also, my Wagon-R gives me a extremey modest mileage of over 15 km on the same city conditions. I would highly recommend not to opt for Hyundai vehicles that too LPG model are a strict no-no.

Maruti on the other hand is more reliable, more responsible and gives much better service. Maruti is far better in every sense.

I am in process of disowning my Hyundai vehicle. And would never want to b e associated with Hyundai in future even if they want to give me their vehicles for free.

Let me provide some balance to this rather one-sided debate.

I own an old Santro LS ZipDrive (1-lit, 2000 model). It has now done 124000 kms. Engine overhaul was done at 123000 kms. Clutch lasts approx 60000 kms for me. Car is now almost as good as new, not a single rattle after 10 years. Car has been driven hard at high speeds and high revs, sometimes exceeding 100 kmph in 3rd gear and 150 kmph in 4th. Engine has stood up to this abuse brilliantly and now feels very good after overhaul (not yet tested at high speed). Highway mileage with speeds in the range of 80-100 kmph and with AC off is about 17 kim/lit. Xing should give better mileage than my model.

Hyundai customer service has been exceptionally good.  Even though my model is out of production for 9 years now, Hyundai has gotten all the spares for me (many times ordering them from Chennai).

Santro has a hydraulic power steering (HPS) . It lasts about 60000 kms before requiring maintenance. The HPS of Santro is one of the best, and gives the car extremely precise handling, especially at high speeds (140+ kmph). I have driven the EPS-equipped Swift Dzire Vxi at speeds of upto 175 kmph, but I can vouch for the fact that my Santro's HPS has a much better feel and precision. However, it is true  that the HPS is older techology, is heavier (thus reducing performance/fuel economy marginally) and requires more maintenance. Wagon R's EPS will make city driving marginally easier, but on the highway the Santro's HPS will win (in my opinion, and based on my experience on the Mumbai-Pune route. See some of the videos in my signature).
