LPG vs CNG again. Simple answer would be, "decide depending on your economy and hunger for power." CNG is cheaper but will make your car lame in performance. LPG on the other hand stands somewhat in between of regular fuels and CNG in running cost as well as in performance. Another consideration should be availability and convenience of these fuels.

As far as safety is concerned, I guess both are safe enough. Whatever Vidhur told is definitely informative but no matter at what pressure LPG is compressed and tested, if anything goes wrong, the pressure inside the cylinder is much enough to blow the car. Hence in this scenario, both CNG and LPG cylinders are bombs and are unsafe enough!

well...Ban.... i honestly dnt think safety is an issue wid CNG either.... do u think so ??... Ok....i've been trying my best not to say it directly...but let me hit it STRAIGHT now.... If the LPG cylinder bursts....it'll cause death.(n i am only counting the persons in the car..not in the other cars nearby !).. n so will b the case wid CNG ....

th issue of wot'll happen if th lpg or cng cylinder bursts  ..... is secondary

th primary issue is ..........wot r th probabilities of an lpg cylinder blasting .... visavis .... a cng cylinder ... ?

ask any chemical engineer .... n he'll tell u ........... given th stastics of pressure n testing ........... 7 kgs in a 30 kgs cylinder is exceptionally safe by all international norms ........ wheres not only is th pressure of 220 kgs per sq cm highly unsafe by itself ........ th risk is enhanced many times by th fact that it is stored in a tank which is tested for a mere 350 kgs per sq cm ...... and considering this storage is not in a static tank but in vehicle moving at high speeds in which i n my family is travelling ...... th scenario is truly frightening

good luck to all .... who still find cng safe !

Vidhur, my friend don't go by numbers. I understand 220 kgs/sq cm is exceptionally high pressure but this pressure is being handled by a tank that is tested for 350 kgs/sq cm. I know there is not much difference between 220 and 350 but when it comes to pressure, what condition on the earth can produce this extra 100 kgs/ sq cm of pressure? I mean to say how will 220 kgs/sq cm become 350 kgs/sq cm? No road-collision can increase the pressure to this extent. Also CNG is ligher and will dissipate in the atmosphere in case of leakage. Another good thing about CNG is its low inflamability behaviour. Petrol or LPG will catch fire much quicker than CNG.

As far as probability is concerned, yes, CNG is more dangerous. But then Petrol is much more dangerous than CNG as it's tank is made of quite normal metal and is highly unsafe. But this doesn't keep us from buying a Petrol car then why to be so apprehensive about CNG?

As a proof, there are millions of CNG vehicles running on roads worldwide.

yes...dats rite... i agree wid BAN... n i sure the Indian govt or the Supreme isnt a fool to make "road" bombs....... !!!... n yes in many instances ...the whole car has been damaged due to an accident but the cylinder inside still seems to be undisturbed...... if that is safe enough then can it get better ???......
