I agree with Sam,

But under body coating is quite useful in rainy season . It helps the car to be rust free.

Engine Lamination is somewhat not necessary since the engine is always protected by the bonnet & is not directly exposed to sun, rain etc.

While I do agree with Sam that much of what is advised by the delaers is purely to increase their margins, I still feel that we should get a few things done.

This package in question here is costing not more than 8Ks. In my personal experience I have seen problems of rust, not just in the under-body but also inside the engine bay in 3-4 year old cars. While this is not a serious problem, but still a problem nonetheless. It does not matter whether you stay in places like Mumbai or Chennai or not. Rust can be formed even in relatively colder areas like Dehradun and Jammu. Similary if the engine lamination can prevent rodents from cutting through electrical wires, that alone can save you this amount of money in future. So in my opinion, it is not too much of an extra burden to spend around 8Ks for a 8-lakh car.

A similar argument can be give for insurance. I for e.g. (and Thank God for that) have paid much more money in Insurance premium and have claimed very little. Still I feel insurance is a must. Similarly I do hope that I never get to test my Airbags, and I try to drive pretty responsibly too, but I still want to have a car with airbags for my family, even if costs me over a lakh of rupees. So it is all a question of priority and how much are you willing to pay for it.

If do not take this package, your car will still run just fine. May be a few rusts here and there but nothing really serious. But still you should ask yourself, if with 8Ks you can prevent rusting, rodent problems and improve the looks of your car (both external and inside the engine bay), then would you go for it?

Thanks for your valued information. Any idea what it would cost now. The figure given to me was about Rs. 7500-8200 for the 3 jobs. This amount also included 3 periodical teflon coatings over a period of time and a 2 year warranty. I wonder what would Teflon warrant for?

regards,

i do agree with kabom as the above quoted are similar to the one my parents paid in 2007 for wagon r. and i dont think there would be drastic increase in these prices.
