That's 'tank-full-to-tank-full' method - most acurate for end-users like us.

Magnum generally gives mileage of 14/16 in city & 18/20 on highway - depending upon the driving conditions (road/traffice/load/use of AC etc.) & the style (speed/use of gears, clutch, brakes etc.).

Well Pankaj that mileage in Delhi's traffic situation is a dream, I hope to get better mileage after 1st service of my car which is overdue, I would definitely let the magnum fans know results after service.

B/R

Well Pankaj if that mileage in Delhi's traffic situation is a dream....

True & in other cities having like-wise traffic conditions.

Therefore, I have stated the mileage figures with qualifications (depending upon driving conditions & style).

i got a decent mileage of 16.1 km per lt in my lt diesel on the highway at a constant speed of 100-120kph..with ac on all da time.the top speed i drove at was 165 however 180 odd seemed possible........i think if u maintain the rpm between 2100-2500 u can get a decent mileage

That's a good mileage under the said conditions & driving style.

How much do you get in city conditions (Mumbai)?

Hi Pankaj,

My car is improving in city mileage before 1st service, now after driving 5500 km it is delivering more than 13.5 km in city.
Today i am sending my car for 1st service & will update on the same again.

Which diesel to fill?  - I just got myself an optra magnum LS. Performance, steering ease, suspension, stability, braking all are v.good, though gear-shifts are a little on the harder side - even though they engage well. I want to know if I shd fill in premium diesel (i.e.turbojet/extra-premium/super diesel) for better & long lasting performance, or normal diesel is good enuf ?

Hi, I hv one more query on my magnum diesel. 15 days into driving the new car, on start-up it says 'Change oil soon' - it is not even due for its 1st service - am wondering why I am getting this warning on start. Otherwise, performance-wise, I hv no issues.

Does the caution go off once the car is being driven-then i guess there wont be a problem. How many KMs have you covered till now there might be a check at the 1000km mark.

Hi Binoy,

Yes, the caution is momentary - goes off while driving. Have driven around 720 kms. It started coming at around 600 km - so my worry is if the warning is as per km setting vis-a-vis milestone checks, or by run-time quality of the oil..
