Hello, if money is not the only criteria, you should select Cruze for sheer fun of driving and F.E. of diesel. However the long term track record of GM cars not that positive as far as maintanence, ASS and resale. If ASS in your citi is fine, go ahead and enjoy the car, forget everything.

If you give due weightage to all the factors relating to the ownership of the car, city makes more sense. All the best.

@V.S.Reddy

Please write your suggestions once again as your post has not come up.

Guys, its becoming more confusing with each passing days.

Another point that I would like to mention is that I would like to keep the car for 8 to 10 years. This time I have to let go of my car in its 5th year itself due to too many repairs pending on it. This is the only point that is keeping me from selecting a diesel engine. Please give me your suggestions regarding modern diesels that have lasted high mileage and high number of years apart from Innova.

I have seen some high mileage petrols with 8 - 10 years of ownership but not diesels. Even my experience suggests to dispose of the diesel in  3 - 4 years. I will write down my criteria once again:

1. Reliable and trouble free ownership for 8 to 10 years.

2. Good A.S.S. service.

3. Safety kit.

4. Sedans or compact MUVs.

Every case is a different case, in case of Diesel cars. Few may not get any problem till 1.5-2.0L kms, and few may get problems from 1.00L kms. Any Current diesel cars/engine are not that old that you would have long term ownership report. Or if we put it differently, the result of such reports will have long list of positives and nagatives. It will confuse you more.

So all in all, it is better to go ahead with Honda city, where general consesus for trouble free ownership is favourable.

All the best.

Hi Friends,

Had a lot of debate/discussion and TDs also. The competition was between Honda City E-MT. Hyundai Verna 1.6 SX VTVT and Nissan Sunny XV (All Petrol Versions).

I am glad to say that I have reached my own conclusions after all debates/discussions/TDs/A.S.S. aspects being considered. My view is

No.1 - Honda City E-Mt

No.2 - Hyundai Verna 1.6 SX VTVT

No.3 - Nissan Sunny XV

Anyone, any comments ???

Rgds,

Rajiv Bakshi

@Rajiv

In the petrol segment I still feel Honda City has no competition so my recomendation will be Honda City.Test drive all the 3 selected cars and find out which suits you the best in terms of driveability,Ride and Handling,A.S.S and of course looks.

Cheers !!

Dear Vinod, if you go through the thread title, you can get to know that he has already brought a car!

Sarthak, I would advise you to start a separate thread on ownership. After that, I shall close this thread. I can copy the posts there.
