I had given my Wagon R for first service and it seems that they have adjusted my clutch play which has affected the position of biting point..

Now I have to release clutch more to reach biting point, should I get it corrected ?

Though its not affecting drivabilty much but can it lead to clutch problems?.

Its actualy pain to see service guys introducing new problems instead of rectifying and unnecssary trouble .

There was pedal play in my car. It was corrected by comparing with other wagonrs in the yard and the cable was adjusted. The biting point has reached to the extreme position. But I dont think the biting point will change with respect to the plates. Only the free play is removed. Before, the clutch used to engage after the free play distance. Now it doesn't exist and engages instantly. This wont affect the clutch. Just dont rest your foot on the clutch. Due to the adjustment, now the clutch takes a shorter throw to engage.

"Show her the redline, and she'll return you exhilaration,

Keep her silent, and she'll live on a diet"

May sound yuck compared to other poetry we read, but IMO, that is what the K-Series is all about. Though I dont use the car much, when I drive, given its small dimensions, manevourability and power, you can zip around places. These days, low end response has improved a lot and you can very well drive the car without much gearshifts. Believe me, initially it was bad. FE is an average of 15kmpl as of now with AC and bad traffic, with 1600km on the Odo.

Here are the negatives first:

1. Seating comfort is OK. Better than the smaller cars including santro, Eon and the estilo. No support for the sides of the back, which is present in my other cars.

2. Low profile tyres on my VXi is not as good in ride quality compared to the thicker tyres in the L versions. Not sure what the objectiveof maruti is. We can feel the small undulations and that makes you slow down if you see them.

3. Audio system is crap. SX4 and the new swift have better audio systems though they are also from Nippon. It gives you the same feeling when you remove the subwoofer from a HQ system and play music. For bass lovers like me, it points towards a subwoofer requirement badly.

4. One design error in the car is that, the B-Pillar is placed rearwards, ie more towards the rear of the car. This will hide most of the legroom that is present and to some extent it will affect rear ingress and egress.

Whoa and you think that I am fed up with these. But thats not true. This is not my primary ride to crib about.

Speaking about the positives:

1. Performance is AMAZING. Some positive offset in right foot pressure will push the engine to redline within no time. And the engine will not give you vibrations, or any scary noise. It begs for more.

2. FE under HARD driving will not disappoint you. Maybe a tad lesser. But a more sedate drive will return very good FE. So, you can enjoy both performance and efficiency to medium extents. For me, there is a lot more than just KMPL, and thats the reason I still have a weightage for a petrol.

3. Space is good, and gives you a nice feeling in the car. Good legroom at the rear, and good to be chaffeured around with the front left seat pushed front. You can sit with crossed legs, and a laptop on it.

4. Engine is quite silent and as in 1, it will not scare your co passengers in case you are in a good mood. + to maruti for that. Expect NVH to improve in the coming days.

5. Think it is quite worth the extra amount you pay for the Vxi. Seriously. I have another LXi in the family and when it comes to equipment, its barebones.

6. Continuing 5, using the mirrors, you can reverse easily without worrying much. Point the mirrors to the rear tyres and you can judge the track. Abscence of the butt helps a lot though!

After all these, there is a wobble at high speeds. Have to get the wheels balanced. Also, as usual, this car will also get better lights in some time. And maybe a subwoofer, and maybe alloys(if you think of what to do for the car, there is a lot). Sometimes feel like getting a stitched leather cover for the steering, but again, as I dont use it much, dont find the need.

@Sanklap,

Nice review. I liked it the way you narrated.

Waggie is very good practical urban car which is virtue to have for working class due to high seating posture, particularly those who have bad back due to prolonged seating in front of idiot box (laptops)

dear all,

Wagon R rocks!!!!!!!

Since the upgrade in 2006 end and the complete change over to the K-series in 2010, it WRians every where.

I would like to give my insight between the 1.1 and 1.0.

look wise the 1.1 has taken the front end to newer hight and the 1.0 has done much better with newer stylish blue eyed headlamp.

the rear end of 1.0 is though almost similar to its predecessor 1.1 2007 model. its only from the side, the rear on 1.0 is let down.

the doors on 1.0 look much better. also the rear view mirror feels a class higher.

on the interior, the new Dash on 1.0 gives a new lease of life. the steering adjust and the instrument cluster feels upmarket compared to its predecessor.

However the 1.0 has a lesser boot space compared to 1.1.

Driving wise i dont think the 1.1 was bad either.

regards

I have got two sources of info. One tells that it is just an extension cable costing 1.5k. The other tells that it is an adapter and a control unit that is imported and costs 5k. Will know the exact configuration once I remove the HU and check it myself LOL!

I too miss USB feature on Waggie's HU.  I wa quoted 5K for extension cable by a nippon dealer.

In that amount we would get pioneer HU with inbuilt USB playing capabilty.

Haha! Currently I use bluetooth functionality in my car! Had purchased a nokia BH-111. Just connect it to aux in, pair your phone and enjoy music and calls! Simple Cost - Rs. 1900
