Thats what. Here I am specific to bodywork and not other repair. My personal experience is decent for 1. They know my temperament. 2. They are sensitive to feedback- this being whether under warranty or not. Guess thats with only some companies. However, there are bitter experiences that others share such as the cases you mention, including yours. But having stayed away from both hyundai and ford, I cant really comment.

I disagree that ASC are justified in kind of premium they charges. You can see my another thread on A/C compressor where they quoted Rs. 40K which they could have done it within Rs. 4K had they done honest repair work. On another incident I had accident with Auto which damaged entire left side from door and Honda ASC quote was Rs 38K which I got done outside at Rs. 18K. In both the cases the repair was done very well, I would say atleast equal to what Honda ASC would have done. I would call charging 3/4 times the usual cost is "CHEATING" and in no way it can be called premium. I am sure there will be enough people out there who would have similar expereinces with other multi-national brand ASCs.

I have enough experiences with other cars too. I have owned Maruthi and Toyota cars before and I have driven almost all the major brands of cars in India as well as abroad so I am not a novice here. I have not seen such dis-honest behaviors with other Indian brand ASCs.

I think there is good opportunity in indian market for someone to start a chain of multi-brand car service center who will do honest job and focus on only car repair - like Jiffy Lube in US.

Agree with you Pankaj. Given the pace at which consumer redressal works here, it only opens opportunities for cheating. And a field where a few have all the knowledge of something which is used by the lay people at large throws open big doors for them to cheat. After all they know what is wrong an how much it will cost and not the customer. That means customer has little option than to trust them - and that is where things go wrong.

i too agree with Pankaj. The HASS quoted me 11k just to change the wiper motor (6K for motor + 2k for blades + 2k rods + 1k labour) and i got this same thing done outsode just for 2.7k (2.4k for motor + 500 bucks for rods & blades & some 300 for labour).

Recently the power window dint worked, the glass fell doem insode the door, HASS shamefully told me the motor is gone while i got it repaired by paying just 400 bucks, the motor was ok, only the wire got a little cut and got weak.

i went back to HASS and gave them a good peace f my mind & heart. Cool

I have actually stopped going to Whitefield Honda in Bangalore for any of my car repairs and I have harard from many others about the similar experience esp. with Whitefield Honda.

If Carwale.com or ther car magazines/online portal wants to do good service to car consumer base across India they should run a consumer survey of their after sales service beyond warranty period and publish the results. I even tried calling up Honda Telephone complaint and had even sent multiple complaints over e-mail but I have not seen any real action taken by them.
