Hello,

My first post on this forum. I want to buy a petrol sedan car. My average daily run is not more than 10-15kms. I will take the car occasionally on the highway(twice or thrice in an year). Please help me chose one of the cars from above based on features like driving comfort, ASS, value for money, nice spacious and beautiful interiors and good exteriors, good mileage. I dont want a high speed racer car. I never drive above 100kmph even on a highway. I just want a comfy family car and most importantly good and easy for driving in the city. Which one of the below or any other not among these suits me perfectly? Are there any niggles with any of these in particular or problems with ASS etc?

Skoda laura

Fiesta global

Maruti Suzuki Sx4

Nissan Sunny

Hyundai Verna

Tata Manza

Thanks,

PS: please help me make a decision fast as I might be able to avail some year end discounts from the dealer.

The Skoda Laura is a league apart from the other cars you have mentioned. If you are interested in the Laura, go for the Manual transmission version. Though the Laura has some serious problems, it is mostly related to the Automatic version and the manual is not so problematic compared to the auto and the performance is also unbeatable owing to its direct injection and forced induction. Maintenance is on the expensive side, but it is really worth for the quality or performance it offers.

The SX4 and Manza are also not so comparable with the list of the cars you have put up. Also, Hyundai verna and Fiesta are in a sub-segment and between thee two I would choose the Verna. Again, maintenance will be on a higher side, owing to its complex gadgetry which can fail after a certain period of time. The SX4 is aging, with less equipment on offer and makes a practical option only, which might get a facelift sometime(??). Positives are its excellent ability to tackle bad roads and also its handling, and ride quality at high speeds. Low speed comfort is not so appreciable owing to its stiff suspension setup.

Sunny is a new entry, and it offers decent equipment with loads of space. About maintenance and reliability, I cant comment. No offense to Manza owners/fans, but once you start test driving all the above cars, you wouldnt even want to consider this one(Comparable to the likes of Verna, Laura and Fiesta). The only thing I can feel good about it is interior space, and thats it. Its better you drive each car extensively and then come to a decision. Remember that all that is said on paper and by me of course is not enough and you must get a first hand experience from each.

Thanks sankalp, but why do you say so. Is Manza a bad car? I will try to test ride this soon.

Are there going to be new features added on? Should I wait then and till when?

Is Fiesta good? How are the ASS of ford compared to Maruti and Hyundai?

Can anyone tell me which of the cars fit perfectly under my criterion? I will be greatful.

As an offering, manza can be termed as value-for-money in its segment. But when you compare it with cars in the higher segments, the car is no match for the ones you have stated. Regarding the sx4, facelift is too far away for you to wait. So, leave it out. Being an owner myself, I do like the car very much. When we purchased it, the car was a segment leader but now there are better products. So, the only factors the car is banking upon now is good reliability, decent performance and practicality for our roads.

I felt Manza to be very spacious and it had plush interiors. Do you mean Manza does not drive well and the ride is not good? Are there any issues with this car or TATA cars in general. I have never owned one myself. I have test driven Sx4 and Verna. I liked Verna.

All these factors IMO lead to one car i.e. Verna Fludic.

Go for it, it is loaded with features and is just effortless to drive in city conditions. It is very stable below speeds of 100 kmph and is a really comfortable car.Cool
