Good day !!

I am currently looking to buy Next gen i10 which is the new model released lately this year. Per my discussion with the Dealer, I understand Hyundai has upgraded their i10 engines to IRDE2 and Kappa2. However the FE, Specifications and Features remains same except the slight improvement in Engine capacity on latter.

Now am looking for a best I10 model which gives me better engine performance, mileage and features. Now i heard that new I10 1.1 Magna IRDE2 LPG version has released and giving better mileage/performance.  Taking this model into consideration, i arrive at two options which suits my cost and needs. One is I10 1.1 Magna IRDE2 LPG version and the other is I10 1.2 Magna Kappa2.

Please help me out in deciding the best option. As i am little puzzled with the mileage and engine performance. Will the 1.1 LPG version engine give better performance over 1.2 petrol engine ?

Appreciate your help on this.

Welcome to carwale Sandy.

If you need performance then Kappa2 is the one to go for. iRDE2 is not as good as the Kappa2. The pickup and FE of Kappa is better than iRDE

There are reports of low FE for i10 mostly the kappa. Pickup and performance the kappa will be better than the 1.1 (petrol / LPG). What about the runing cost of the LPG 1.1 compared to the kappa?? I think the 1.1 LPG will give more saving as long as the cost of LPG is controlled.

If your average monthly running is more, then why not try for the Beat diesel or if possible for the ritz LDI.

By the way Sandy, what is your average monthly usage and other requirements like space, budget etc.

Not that all kappa engines are giving low FE. The response has been pretty mixed. While some people have complained about poor FE others seem to be happy with it. Some of my friends have a kappa2 and they both get 12kmpl+ in city driving which I think is pretty decent

12KMPL would have been good to me only if these Hyundai guys would not claim that it will give more than 20kmpl.  well common, I understand 20 is not possible , but then why advertise in that way.  Even the salles guys say with confidence that "Saar, you will get more than 15 in Bangalore traffic with full AC on ". I know  3 I10 owners, the best one is 12.25 and the worst is at 9.5. Thats sad .

Hi Arun,

My usage would be around 300-400 kms per month and the budget should not go above 5 lakhs.  I understood for the performance i should go for Kappa2 Engine.

But I just have a feeling that due to increase petrol prices, if i buy LPG version it would definitely have better resale value. what doyou think ?

For 300-400 kms a month stick to a petrol variant. It does not make sense to go for LPG for such a low run. Resale is something that will come in later probably after 4-5 years. Why bother so much about it now?

can u compare i10 1.2 magna with Beat LT, because the price of both the car is more or less same. Is Beat giving more FE.

Please compare i10 magna 1.2 with Beat LT, ,considering FE, VFM , maintenance, (considering 3years warrenty with Beat).

I would really not compare the i10 with the beat because the beat has a 1liter engine while the i10 has a 1.2 liter engine to start with. I10 is more spacious than the beat and Hyundai A.S.S.C. network is also way better than Chevy. The only place where the beat will get brownie points is the 3 year/1 lac kms 0 ownership package and you might get more features too. I would suggest the i10 over the beat anyday
