I would really not compare the i10 with the beat because the beat has a 1liter engine while the i10 has a 1.2 liter engine to start with.

The beat has a 1.2 liter petrol engine, though its underpowered!barring other points, TCO of the beat is lesser than the i10

Hey Sankalp. Thanks for correcting me again. Between just curious to know how the TCO for a beat be lower then the i10?

For the beat, first three years you will get a cashless service. In case of most problems, they will turn up within this time and also, your paid service cost is waived. Compared to the i10, you do have warranty, but paid service is paid itself :P Coming to the downside of the i10, hyundai after sales is comparable to a fleecing ceremony. Moreover, parts are delicate and tend to fail after around 50k kms. These include drive shafts, and other crucial parts. If you go the genuine way, you will end up replacing an axle for a faulty axle boot and so on. Such things make the car expensive to maintain after a good amount of miles on the ODO.

Once the beat crosses its three year term, an average person will sell his car in around 5 years here so, the car will be sold in that time. So your responsibility of maintaining the car out of your pocket will be for a period of three years max compared to six years of another car without such a cashless policy, as you wil have to pay for consumables and parts even if it is a free service.

Again, direct comparision can be made only by taking examples of two similliarly maintained cars(I can wreck a beat in months and keep an i10 like a gem). So roughly it is so.

What you say is true from the point of view of the 3 year 0 ownership part but then we also need to consider other important points like A.S.S.C. coverage and spare part availability right. I dont have a first hand experience of a chevy ownership but for hyundai the spare part availability os good and the A.S.S.C. network coverage is also pretty good.

Part availability is a problem with beat. When it comes to after sales network, hyundai is ahead, but trust me most are good for their money making tactics. You can read many stories where people are charged a lot for small jobs. Its better to have one good dealer rather than a bunch of bad ones!

Yes Hyundai does have a money fleecing kinda work and that I guess i because rather than fixing something they are more keen on going the easy way and replacing it. Just spoke to mye friend who owns the kappa2 sportz and he was not very happy as such on the FE and handling on highways which probably reflects the existing picture. Also personally I would have the spare part availability as a major criteria while choosing a car because I wouldnt want to wait for a long time if something needs to to be replaced. Faced enough such situations with the ikon in the past

Sandy : Why not consider the Ritz Vxi or the Lxi. You may have to add some features which can be done over time for the LXi. I think since it is more spacious than the i10/Beat and with MAruti ASC, it will be a good longterm proposition for petrol. FE, Service netwrk, reliable engine. Geberally good reviews for this car. You may get good discounts since it is petrol. Check.
