for your budget cars like eon and alto would be pretty good enough. Alto has been around for many years and has proved itself. Maintenance is low and Maruti A.S.S.C. is on the best in the country. So you cannot go wrong there. Eon is new and looks more fresh but the maintenance is yet to be checked. So if you want to experiment then go with the eon else opt for the alto. Other option is the santro but I would not suggest it since its old and looks dated now but then thats my personal opinion.

Alto is giving quite discomfort for me to enter and exit to driver seat, because of my height. So i am prefering santro....

Along with Santro do check out the Eon too. While I have said that maintenance is still unknown I doubt if hyundai will have expensive spares for the eon. You can check the spare parts price list with the dealer for the eon and the santro and then come to a conclusion

I mentioned diesel since I thought it will be 1000 Km / month. If it is 670, probably you can stick to petrol since diesel cars (in good condition) will be much more expensive. After the recent petrol price hikes (the price reduction was only marginal), the price difference between petrol and diesel cars (be it new or second hand) has increased considerably.

I read some comments that eon is less weight then santro and interior and space is not good. And I feel the price also quite high comparing to same standard cars.

Eon I would say is basically a city car. So it being light in weight is an advantage as it will mean good FE

Sorry, I got mixed up with some other thread. Yes, diesel is out of question for you.

Go for EON. It is more comfortable, stable and premium hatch compared to Alto and will give same F.E. as Alto. It is as wider as Wagon-r, so it will be more comfortable. Era model has power steering and AC and it cost around 3.50 in Ahmedabad. So my take for you will be EON. All the best.
