" How come people book the cars before its brought to the dealer  " Maruti Swift New model had apx 90k bookings before it was brought to the dealer . With Fluidic what I heard was 20k+ booking .Do people follow the sheep method or they are very sure about the manufacturer's success rate or people have enough money to shell it out ?

I think they book the vehicle based on reviews they have read & heard. When they see the vehicle in flesh they might cancel the booking if they dont like it. Its just the booking amount they pay at that time. Nobody wants to wait so if they dont like the vehicle & wants to cancel it they will lose some part of the booking amount only. Though i think booking cancelations happen very rare. Also as you said bhed chaal is very common in our country & in almost evrey field.

Consumer behavior is such a complex thing, and different consumers behave differently in same situations. There is no point in finding fault with anybody's buying decisions. Buying a car is a lifetime investment for some whereas its just another purchase for others. Car buying decisions are not always rational and how much research one does before buying a car is a part of his/her consumer behavior, be it rational or emotional. I would though buy anything before judging the market response and my love for cars wont allow me to buy one before having extensive test drives.

Hi JK, Good point , Are you pursuing your MBA or done with it ? I am hearing this words after 11 yrs. Consumer behaviour is derived from , market response , advertisements , word of mouth, feedback, actual experience , status, pride , price , quality and sheer performance of the product. What I fail to understand it few customers book it before actually seeing the vehicle . For example one of my friends prebooked an iphone 4s, he has not seen at all . I have read in one of the car sites that a person just booked the car because of their feedback ( car site ) on the car and not even taken a TD.

Its better to prepare and prevent than to repair and repent :)
