For diesel, if the waiting period is not an issue go for the swift. The figo is also quite low than the swift and some people report getting hit going over speedbreakers. Service network is also better for the swift especially with regards to availability outside cities.
I dont think maintenance cost will be high for either of these cars since mostly spares are made in India. Atleast, I have not seen any complaints about high cost of maintenance or other significant ownership issues for these two is any forum/auto magazines.
To summarise the cons IMO:
Figo - lower ground clearance, less service network
Swift - waiting period.
