Hi i'm planning to buy a car. My option lies with either Hyundai i 10 magna kappa 1.2 or Honda Brio SMT. Which would be a better choice. I use it for long journeys once in a month or a while. My height is 6 feet. Or any other vehicle sugestions. Advise?

Welcome to carwale Dinesh.

The brio is very new and it is too early to tell anything about it IMO. However being from Honda we can say that it would have a refined drive and the engine will be smooth. Maintenance cost and other things might not be clear at this stage. In that aspect i10 makes more sense as it has been around for a longer time now. Also what is your budget? We need to know your priorities as well to make suggestions

My budget would be around 5 lakh. Since i go for an petrol i'm more concerned about mileage, minimal maintenance, comfort ie should not give any pains when going on for a longer drive. technology that i find in both the cars and safety. Availabilty of spares and service centres in my location

Dear Dinesh, If you create a new thread under 'buying a car' with an appropriate subject, you will get much better feedback since more interested people would read your request and reply.

IMO, the Ritz petrol would be better than the i10 kappa in terms of space and all other aspects. But check the cost against your budget. All the best

New thread created

In 5 lacs the i10 would be a good choice. Else as mentioned earlier the lva can also be considered if you are okay with the interiors and performance of the car. Other cars to look at would be the swift, ritz and Wagon-R. Since you say you are 6 feet tall I guess the Wagon-R will appeal to you more because of its roomieness. Better take a test drive and then decide.

Looks are subjective and so if you dont like the Wagon-R you can check the estilo which again is a very good car.

Hey Dinesh, My take on abovementioned cars are as under:

I-10: Very good car, excellent cabin finish and interior, more comfortable for driver with height, average F.E., excellent ASS and resale.

RITZ: Again very good car with excellent engine, more F.E. than I-10, More cabin space than I-10, more comfortable for long people as well as long drive, but very dull looking cabin and exterior, Excellent ASS and resale.

BRIO: New in the market, Excellent proven engine, cabin finish and space are excellent (typical Honda), Lower sitting may not be that comfortable for long drives, minimal boot space, best combination of f.E. and pick-up, resale is question mark..

Now you decide, what you want in your car. You will not grossly wrong in selecting any of the above car, but you have to compromise something to get something.

All the best.

Front wheel drive means that the powe from the engine is given to the front wheels to drive the car. In the case of a rear wheel drive the power is given to the rear set of wheels. I dont think any Indian manufacturer produces a front wheel drive at present. So you need not worry about it.
