That is basically alternate use of diagonal and straight swaps, for front and rear. This scheme has a small catch. After (say) 6 months, it is difficult to remember if the previous swap was a straight one or a diagonal one. Many people dont have the habit of writing it down somewhere.

So, a good scheme will be such that remembering the previous one is not required. If you refer to any car manual, they have given both 4 tyre and 5 tyre schemes. None of them require remembering the previouos swap.

Also, using the scheme in the manual is always best since if the swap is done by a service centre (as per our instruction but not under our monitoring), they will use the same scheme which we follow.

For example, the scheme given in Maruti manual for 4 tyre rotatio is

FL --> RL

RL --> FR

FR --> RR

RR --> FL

At least, we can note down the parameters in the logbook or owners manual. That is how one can remember, after all we must take that much care of our car right?
