Centaur: its a temp registration . you must have seen several cars with white numbers on red paper stuck where the number plate is supposed to be there. Mostly dealers today directly give you the final registration numbers itself.

Sorry for the goof up there by by registration in Bangalore I meant paying the road tax (as is required) and getting the permit to register it in another state.

There are so many other options available other than Swift. Skods, Fiats, Volkswagon all these car has hatch back options and dont forget the Hyundais and Toyotas. Even though I am a swift owner I am saying this because 8 months + waiting period is ridiculous

If you cant get the car when you want to drive, then its pointless to wait for that car. Think about other options IMHO

I don't understand the logic behind booking the car in Bangalore. If you are from Lucknow, you can book the car in Noida and drive down to lucknow after delivery. It will still have the UP registration, so no need to do anything.

More Importantly, delivery will happen much earlier in Delhi NCR region than anywhere else in the country. As a matter of fact, you may talk to delaer in Gurgaon (Pasco), and see if they provide you an earlier delivery. The car is cheapest in Gurgaon. Or else, Rohan/Vipul Motors (both Noida) will be just as good, just a few Ks extra in price.

The problems for Maruti Suzuki new Swift's buyers have increased. The bookings were already on high, when the workers stopped production of the car at the Manesar plant of the company. The workers are on strike and they have pledged not to work until their demands are met with. It has been over eight days now, but the company and the workers have not yet reached to an agreement.

In the previous month, when the new facelift version of the much loved car Maruti Swift was launched, it took the market by surprise by exceeding the expectations and enjoying a record number of bookings from all over the country. In just two weeks, the bookings had crossed the figure of 90,000. The news is that the bookings would take six to eight months to be delivered with.

Due to this reason, the company has made the decision of declining the booking requests for an uncertain period of time. According to them, they cannot promise their buyers a certain period of time their booking would deliver in. The conditions don't look good as it’s been over a week and the total number of cars produced in these days is just 700. Whereas, it should have been over 9,000 easily.

Of course it’s a bad news for everyone who was planning to buy the new Swift. Now they won't get a chance of getting their hands on one, before second half of next year. Keep waiting guys, as there's no other option.

buying it in Bangalore and taking it to Lucknow will be ridiculous ( no offense meant) as you will have to pay more than 1 lac ( road tax + shipping cost ) . Swift  is no doubt a good car but not worth of this either.

There are lot of alternatives, you can go for Ritz, its a more practical version of Swift IMO.

Waiting period for Ritz is 1 month maximum whereas for swift is 9 months for zdi in bangalore. Moreover Ritz has more space and the engine share almost the same specs. What in the world is Suzuki thinking.

Yes it is but my intention of mentioning it was to say that there is a workaround existing in this way and if some one is very very keen on getting the swift then he/she can get it this way.
