Hi Akshat,

I was glad to see a reply on the discussion page. It reminded me that I need to provide updates.

My car completes 2 months tomorrow and I have had a run of 3200 Kms(1500 Kms on highway and 1500 in city). It has been a wonderfull ride, I could not have been more satisfied.Let me mention the feedback in this manner :

Positives :
1. The milage is around 16-18 in city and around 20-22 on highways. Please do not mind the non exact figures as I never put much effort on calculating it with precision but I am very much sure about the figures mentioned above. Also I would like to mention that its winters so AC is not used all the time by me.
2. Zero maintenance uptill now,as the first service(1 month) was free and my car did not need any topups in oils etc.
3. The space in the car is amazing, my colleagues who sat on the back seats mention it to me on every day basis.
4. The cars exterior is really tough and there has been no comnpromise on safety, I had a minor accident where a Tavera hit my car from the back and to my surprise I could not find one scratch or any damages to the bumper. The force with which the Tavera hit my car was enough to break bumper of my second car SWIFT(heppened earlier).
5. On Highways when you really need the power you do get it which I was not sure of as was using dielsel car for the first time but I really could not make out the difference between my petrol Swift and diesel Vista.
6. The gear shifts are a cake walk. I majorly drive in Delhi and its a pain if your gear shifts are hard. This car is maing it easy for me to live here.

Negatives:
1. The suspension of the car could have been a bit better.Specially the suspension at the back. ones you run on speed breakers when the back tyres cross them the car jumps up hard.Although this thing does come in handy if you are crossing very long and high speed breakers as I face in Delhi.
2. Although this can be termed as a one of case, one of the tyres was failing to retain the air from the first day. I tried to get it checked in the first service but could not get a real solution to it. I always have this habit of keeping high pressure in car tyres and so I found this to be a big problem.I have the tyre kept in the back as spare and still need to get it cheked it for minute punctures. The tyre comes from a pressure of 32 to 28 in 2-3 days.

@ Akshat

I would really like to recommend Tata Vista to you if it is to be used majorly by you and not always with Family as the suspension would be just Ok but not a delight. Also if you are looking for great cabin space with good milage this is the one that you are looking for.The image pertained by the car is still more towards a Taxi car but If you have no issues with that you should definately for fo it.

I can only comment on the Ritz from the Test drive I took but can safely say that it would be a good family car for you. The milage can be assumed around Vista only but the suspension is better for sure.I would like to mention though that the back seats are a bit cramped in Ritz if three people are sitting. Also as I already mentioned there are not much features provided by Maruti Ritz compared to Tata Vista.

Oh and one more thing that I would like tomention is that Tata never compromises on safety. Try this simple test on both cars and you will see the difference : Just poke your fingure on the passanger or driver door and you will see that the thin metal layer in Ritz(or Swift) door bends right in but the Tata car doors will tell you how safe they are.

Hello Rahul, We are in the same dilemma as you had four months back. I am looking for a car with good mileage and less maintanence on long run. Since I need to travel 50-60 km a day 50% in highway and rest in town, I am confused with Ritz and Vista diesel versions. How is your car performance maintanence now after five months of purchase? Thanks, Sridhar

Ho Sridhar,

Actually I would complete 3 months with my car on 23rd Feb(I mentioned it above in one of the replys  to Akshat). I have some details above but if you can mention some specific features, choices and usage of yours I sould be able to provide further help. here are somethings to start with :

1. Is it going to be primarily for your drive or you would majorly need to carry more people or your family with you most times.

2. How much value would you give to extra gadgets/features like music system,ABS etc.

3. Can you check for the dealership and service centres in your region/area for both Tata and Maruti.

I know these actually sound to be unimportant questions sometimes but they do give you a better chance to choose the right product.
