Hello Everyone,

I have OEM ICE in my Hyundai i10, I am pretty happy with the performance of the system. There are 4 speakers in all 4 doors, the question is when I increase the volume above 10 the doors start vibrating, depending up on the beating of the song, doors will start vibrating, I can clearly hear the sound from steering side door, when I enquired the same at some accessories shops they suggested  me to do some sound proofing called damping and suggest me to change the front speakers to Component speakers. What are your suggestions? The sound proofing is costing around Rs 4000 and Polk audio component is costing around 7500 and I cannot connect a AMP because the Stock OEM ICE don’t have the pre out.

Please advice?

The easiest (but not necessarily cheapest) way is to get the damping done - or you may remove the speakers from the doors and put them in their own boxes - boxes can be had for about Rs 200-300 a pair - so a max of about Rs. 1000 for it including labour. Then its a question of where you will keep the boxes...

IMO getting damping done will only partially solve the problem - the issue here is the stiffness of the door panel which is not really suitable for a speaker (but we still put them into doors given that there is no better place to put speakers to get any decent sound from them). Putting speakers in boxes is the best idea, but then as I said you will need to find places where the boxes will fit, both for good sound and aesthetics, something that might not be easy to do...
