Honda Jazz has the class.

Take any car in the segment and the Jazz beats them in terms of space that it has on offer. Also, the interiors look more premium when compared to the Figo, i20 and the Swift & more lively than the Polo or the Fabia. True that you need some power behind the wheels, but the iVtech engine is a lot more responsive on the road than it is on paper.

The most significant thing that the Honda can do is an introduction of a diesel engine in some of its cars. I'm sure this will make the competition a lot more interesting and will force a lot of the other manufacturers to outdo each other. Honda has the class and the panache in all of its cars, but many, including myself refrain from buying it due to the rising petrol prices.

Honda is set to kick off with a diesel engine for the CRV may be sometime in early 2013 or the later part in 2012. Still a long time though.

Guys,

30 minutes back I took test drive of Toyota Etios Live V (Petrol)

Positive Points

1. It has got amazing space can easily fit 5 adults

2. Very light power steering

Concerns

1. Interior quality. Dashboard and music system looks bad.

2. Engine sound inside cabin. Though it is a sporty sound but the cabin should be silent when windows are closed. In this matter Jazz is very silent.

3. No bluethooth

What I conclude is that right now Jazz is the best a person can get.

If companies can come up with exclusive versions, limited editions then why not Honda can come with 1.5L city engine in Jazz. I agree that not everybody will jump to this but I am sure there are many like me who is opt for that (irrespective of price and milage). Also think when such exclusive / limited versions are launched how much percent of total sales does these contribute. I am sure not much but still companies launch and buyers buy.

The difference between Jazz X and City E MT (i heard production is stopped) is almost 1.42 lakhs and difference between Jazz X and City S MT is 2.16 lakhs. Both are excellent cars. So even if Jazz proce is increased by 50K due to 1.5L city engine still there is a gap. I am sure many people who don't care about sedan looks but who loves performance will not mind paying this much.

Friends I am just sharing my views here. I may be wrong but these discussions brings lot of thoughts which are exchanged. If the debates are healthy then even companies may consider it and take necesssary steps (who really cares for people)

Cheers,

Bhadresh Dahanuwala

Jazz looks more superior than liva in terms of all aspectes (interior space, build quality, engine) and price differnece is just around 20 to 25k between top models. One thing need to investigate cost of ownership. But today's date Jazz does make sense and look more practical.

IMO honda going first check market response of jazz. For this segemnt fuel economy is important factor. Petrol cost is incraesing day by day. Now most of people considering diesel option. In this situation honda don't want to add 1.5 iVtect for Jazz. They are interested in mass volume.
