The flagship compact sedan from Tata Motors has come a long way since being born simply as the ‘Indigo’. The launch of the e-CS model last year was well received primarily due to its segment leading fuel efficiency figures that Tata Motors has done well to publicize in a variety of ways since introducing the e-CS series in India.
A great value for money proposition to begin with, the Indigo e-CS has now received its most pristine identity in the form of the new Indigo e-CS VX variant. Officially the highest trim level in the Tata Indigo e-CS range, the new VX variant will be available in a MPFi petrol and an all new CR4 Common Rail Diesel engine.
To be more specific, the new diesel heart on the e-CS VX is a 1396 cc engine delivers 70 PS @ 4000 rpm, and a higher torque of 140 NM at a lower 1800-3000 rpm.Improved gear ratios, clutch-to-start, optimized R14 tyres and reduction in the weight of the car by around 10 kg, have resulted in better pickup on the new Tata Indigo e-CS VX.
Exterior finesse on the new e-CS VX remains similar to its lower trim versions, like the satin finish front grill, and the blinker integrated ORVM’s that made the original car look quite good. Body coloured bumpers and chrome inserts on the rub rails all contribute to the overall pleasant looking mid-size sedan.
Being the most well-to-do in its family, the new Indigo e-CS VX has naturally received dual-tone beige seating, a premium wood-finish centre console, rear centre armrest and a new instrument cluster with chrome rings. The plushness and convenience factor on the top variant has been further enhanced with the inclusion of keyless entry, ABS, Bluetooth connectivity and electrical controls for ORVMs.
The Tata Indigo e-CS VX is priced at Rs. 580,339 (ex-showroom Delhi), for the CR4 diesel engine and the Rs. 497,727 (ex-showroom Delhi), for the MPFi petrol engine. The car comes with a warranty of 18 months and unlimited kms for private usage.
Driving is privilage, not a right.
