As per the general mantra, 1k kms points to a diesel. Also you are tempted towards the diesel. So there is not problem going for it. Long term maintenance is higher for a Hyundai than a Honda(now dont debate on this. its my personal opinion). The i20 will have a good resale, but that is subject to the Long term reliability of the car(Relatively new, so time only can tell). It offers good performance and a good economy too. Also featurewise it offers more equipment than the Jazz.

Lastly, for engine refinement and performance, I would personally go for the Jazz rather than the i20. Though both offer similiar power output, a petrol engine will always be a petrol engine.

Alwyn,

If you love to own a diesel then go for one. Withyour running diesel makes absolute sense.

I recently bought Figo Titanium TDCi. To put things in simple words, I am loving the car.

Good Points:

1.Very Powerful AC v/s i20's weak AC.

2. Very mature handling at high speed, and fun to drive like most fords.

3. Very good FE. Without 1 st service, I am getting 15-16 with AC in City drive.

4. Car is not under tyred. comes with tubelss radial 175/65/R14.

5. Moderate to good equipement when compared to the price.

6. Proven 1.4L Fiesta engine which is very reliable

7. Except few small (doesn't matter at all) rattle from the rear end of the car, car has no issues at all.

Negetive:

1. No rear power windows: due to musculer rear wheel arch Ford has delibrately omitted rear power windows. Arch intrudes in the downward movement of glass.

2. GC: I have not faced any issue at all with this regard (though people has pointed which i think is due to optical illusion created by reclining roof and low planted stance of the car)

Other Contender is

FABIA: One word: Very good car.

I would recommend, go for diesel.

Buckle up or pay with life
