4 days ago right side front tyre was puncture,so i put the stepney .evrything was fine till then..but the next day i started to feel steering wheel is vibrating ,kinda woobling ...so i next day i went to nearest ASC n explained all that was happened.the service guy is close to me,he just recomended wheel balancing. The balancing was done n test drive was taken i dint feel any steering wheel vibration nor any shaky feeling as the drive was on highway..i came back to clinic n then to home, now i dint feel any issue with the steering but i was still feeling shaky cabin. at the speed 30-50kmph the can shake is more felt.i thought it might be becoz of the road conditions as my daily route is not that good to drive have many bad/worst stretches out of 30kms.

but today again i felt the shacky, kinda woobling feel in the cabin, like front tyres have something major problem...

can anyone diagnose what might be the reason for all this..what all other things need to be checked?

p.s; 50k km regular service was done within last 15days with wheel alignment n balancing.

mods;if theres any similar thread .with same complaint kindly merge this. i dint find any such threads

Hi Dr.

I believe they have done normal balancing only.

Wobbling at 30-50 km/hr speed

1. Normally happens when heavy point of tyre( red dot) and light point of the rim( Blue dot) is mismatch.( which can be done by match mounting- Radial force vibration balancing machine can help). Hunter 9700 is the machine which may be available with good balancing shop.

2. There can a chance of flat spot. ( This can be checked only after step one is checked)

thank you manish

then shall i go n explain these things to the service person? is it done by a different balncing unit other than nprmal balancing unit?

i was observing the machine the service guy was adding weights according to the green points . and along with balancing he did wheel rotation too..

How is the condition of the tie rods? Was it checked at the last service? Looses tie-rod joints can also cause such wobbling. If balancing is ruled out of the cause, then get the suspension components checked.

road conditions are worst in my area..out of 60 kms, hardly 30kms i can drive with the top gear.... lots of potholes, bad patches n its rainy season now!!

yes the balancing n allignment was done at the last serving,at that time the suspnesion n brake part was also checked some of the componets were changed under warranty( i cant mention those parts now,as the detailed bill is not with me now..will let you know later)

i will be going to ASC probably on tuesday only, will ask him to check the tie rod n suspension components

thank you sankalp

Friends - Sorry for sneaking in. Just joined and found that I needed to post 100 replies before I can start a new one.

I own a Maruti WagonR. In the recent past while taking U turn, got hit in the platform (not too heavy). From then on, there used be a slight noise during my turn.

Went to Maruti dealer and figured that my left front wheel has movedback and it is actually colliding with the Mudclip or the area that covers the tyre.

Maruti guy is saying that I need to change apron, stabilizer bar etc and asking it would cost around 30 K and will take  1 month to fix.

He also says he will try to pull the wheel and that fix is not permenant.

Though Insurance is there, I'm confused that for a small hit, will it cost that much?

Regards

Vasu

30k is ridiculous for something that may involve a simple readjustment of the front strut or wheel alignment. Check it out with a couple of local garages and see what they say before taking a decision. I have a strong feeling the maruti guy is out to make a fast buck.

A bent apron is better left untouched or at best adjusted rather than replaced. Get the apron pulled back to place. If the apron is the culprit, there is no other way. Quite a common case when accidentally the wheel hits the pavement or a huge stone on which it cant move.

I got the same problem for Elantra two months back and it was very bad feeling..I went to the ASS and get it checked thoroughly as it was due for servicing. They said nothing problem and balancing not required.I found that the air pressures of the tyres also cause this vibration.I adjusted all the tyres pressures and later on it became OK.The front seat was also shaking little bit.But for me,the vibration was at high speeds. For you,it is at lower speeds.

Just few days before,I got this problem again and I found my back tyre pressure was less. After filling, there was no vibration at steering. It is an indication for tyre replacement/pressures for me.Is the stepiney same size with normal tyre as sometimes it might be of smaller size.
