I am new around carwale forums, just had some questions/doubts to lcear.

I am planning to install 3M CR 70 sunfilm on Honda Civic on the front windscreen,  but I am very anxious if it would hinder the visibility during nighttime especially if it is raining heaviliy, can anyone help me on this based on their experiences.

Would appreciate your inputs.

Hi Jabir, Welcome to carwale.

I am using CR70 on my Vento front screen & pretty happy with the same. I often even drive on Highways during night & rains & have not found any majore issue.

There is certainly very little drop of visibility but not to an extent which will bother anyone. Just go for it.

Just make sure that you get the job done with authorised dealer .All the best.

Thanks satish,

I have some more questions, What sunfilm did you go for,   for your side and rear and what is the color of your car. Do you think the 3M RE series for sides and rear would go with the silver colored Honda Civic?

Mine is WHite Vento. I applied RE50 for sides/rear. According to me Yes it whould match with your Silver Civic , but must add that looks are always subjective. You can always ask dealer to apply small film patch on ur car before you decide & make sure you have enough day light to choose the right one. I did the same Wink.

BTW which city you are from?

All the best.

Thanks satish, I am from Mangalore, Karnataka.

Yeah , I too want RE50 on my sides and rear, but I dont know whether the silver reflective finish of the RE50 would go well with the silver of the body, silver against silver , i dunno.Embarassed  ,but then again looks are subjective as you pointed out Smile

I was going through the forums at T-BHP and saw a pic of a silver Honda City with the same combination( CR70 frnt and RE50 sides)  and i dont think  I was too impressed.

On another note, what is your opinion about the Low range SP series from 3M , its  actually  1200 cheaper than the RE/CS series, do you think there is enough benefits  in the CS/RE series  to justify the higher price?

Do you know if others have  had positive experiences  with the 3M SP series?

JABIR: I advise you to judge your choice only after you see in real & not by PIC . RE50 according to me is not on Silver side but slightly on greenish side. Again I bet these guys have made films to an extent that we all can land up fighting about how it looks Innocent. Each time you see in different angle & light is enough to confuses you Undecided

Sunfilms are all about Heat rejection, UV rejection & visibility. RE has the best heat rejection being reflective. CS has best UV rejection & equally good heat rejection. I do not remember exact  details as of now of each series but I am sure your dealer will guide you will tech spec. I am not sure of your budget but if you can try CR70  on all glass. I think will cost you around 15 to 18K.

Also to mention that RE50 is certainly not reflective as mirror as you might see some other films on few cars. Could have shown you mine if you were from Mumbai Foot in mouth, but if you spned few hrs with 3M guy I am sure you will be able to see few cars in flesh & help you decide. BUt with 3M RE & CR series are tried & trusted with many so would advise you to stick with these 2 series.

After all these excersie still if you are not able to find a films of your choice from 3M then you have V cool & Llumner as alternate.

All the best.

Thanks  satish,

Finally it all comes down to the fact  looks is secondary  when compared to functionality, so I have almost decided on the RE 50, but I have learnt that the metal in the film creates problems with cell signal reception, what has been your experience on this? Is this true or is the issue minor and some thing that you manage with?

I have never faced any problem driving even on Highways out side city limits. SO think this is certainly somthing you can manage with.

@master

How do you rate cr 70s performance, how is the heat inside the cabin after the car is parked under the hot sun post 12  PM ( for about 30 mins). I am asking this because I went for a not so well known brand (instead of cr 70 ) and got conned in the process
