with teflon coat ,if u have scratch its difficult to get back the same shine as the area around also has to be scraped and then painted and so teflon is a giimck and shud be avoided and its not long lasting too and requires to be done again, better stick to 3M polish or formula 1 wax polish ,do it once a month and cheers

well i did a little research on the same and turns out that in other countires no such thing like a teflon coat for cars exists......its all just a scam in india......teflon is a material developed by dupont, teflon is somthing non stick and is supposed to resist dirt and dust.....but did u guys ever think if its non stick, how does it stick to ur car then....?? the answer is it doesnt.......sure, they may use a paste which does have a little teflon in it....but it will wear out soon....even in ur frying pans teflon coating is done at high pressure and at a high trmperature...which is just not possible on cars. the best protection u can give ur cars is a wax coat every month.....use a reputed wax polish like turtle wax or f1

yes teflon Coating are usually said to keep the Shining surface of the car evershining for 3 years or soo but i think its simply waste of money and we can even polish our paint to shininng one after it getz dull for the same amount,

Cheers,
Sri

after reading so many posts on carwale, i can't able to decide go for antirust coating below the car and teflon coating over the car?

But many of you not recommend teflon coating, so will you guys recommend antirust coating in a city like Delhi?

And in place of teflon coating, do the formula1 wax coating every month by himself?

Under Chassis coating and teflon coating do help to a certain extent. How much do they help is quite dependant on how the car itself is being maintained.

Well, one cannot compare the situation here in India with several other countries - because we always have something with us in India - extreme weather and dust.

I went for the first service of my car and the mechanic has spotted some small black spots on the car - this was bitumen particles that found their way onto the car. Mechanic has asked me if I have done a taflon coating - I said yes and then he said that he will take care of them by washing the car with diesel - and it worked. Mechanic has further stated that the spots could be taken off only because teflon has ensured that it doesn't stick to the car permanently. So, I would based on this experience say that teflon coating helps. Same is the case with the under body coating - it also helps.

Why teflon doesn't help - we have very bad practice when it comes to cleaning our vehicles - a car is supposed to be sprayed with water and dried with pressurised air (like it is done in showrooms). But, on a daily basis, we end up scratching the surface with all our strength using an wet old cloth - it is a wrong practice - cloth is a very rough surface and hence results in the teflon coating getting scratched.

The best approach then is to use news papers - spray little quantities of water on the car and then use a newspaper (which is a much smoother surface) and very delicately wipe the surface with it.

This way the teflon coating is less scratched and the coating has a much longer life.

To find out the difference of cleaning with cloth and a newspaper, try doing it first on a glass surface - you will be amazed that the glass will turn out to be much cleaner ans shiny with the newspaper. It is because of the same reason as explained above.

Also - Use a fine water spray on the car (like the one used in Saloons and don't dump half a bucket of water with full force on the car.

Regards,

K Prasad
