Thanks for sharing your experience - it will benefit all.

By the way, as I understand (not sure), we don't require any letter/certificate stating that the vehicle was not registered - it is evident from the RC Book itself.

The letter was reuired to prove that I wsa in bangalore after taking NOC and not involved in any kind of worng activity. The UP RTO was denying to cancel it becuase they were in impression that I miss used my bike and was involved in some kind of accident or something like this. They said that I commited some crime and want to escape from wherever I was and cancelling NOC will put RTO Meerut in trouble if something like this had happened in the past and they were even not agreeing to accept any recommendations from any one. So thats why I took the letter from Bangalore RTO to prove that I was not involved in any crime and else they would have not given me the cleanchit and issued the letter.

My suggestion is if you have taken NOC please re-register you vehicle immediately to avoid trouble.

Okay, academically speaking, but the letter so issued cannot certify that your vehicle has not been involved in any crime related activities or any accident - how can they certify that?  Even if it has been used for such a purpose or has met with an accident, it may not be in RTO's knowledge. In fact, they can only certify that the vehicle was not registered with them - but then, like I have said before, that is evident from the RC Book also. Anyway

Nice to see all your responses to my post. Now for the final bit of info on the re-registration procedure.
Part 3 : After I had submitted all these papers  at the Pune RTO near Sangam bridge. I had to bring the vehicals in person for inspection at RTO grounds on Alandi road. There a RTO inspected my vehicals and I got a registration number the same day along with  a tax reciept. This reciept is enough to put the cops away since the RC book comes after about a month from registration.

My personal thoughts about this whole exercise :
- As far as possible avoid transferring vehicals from one state to another. If you can sell off in that state great otherwise it is a real pain running behind people to get things done.
Ok now keep the follwoing rules in mind while transferring ur vehicals in pune .
--  The  road tax has to be paid withen 7 days for bike and 15 days for cars otherwise there is a penalty.
-- Rules say you can drive a vehical in another state for a period of 6 months without paying a road tax. If you are going to live more that 6 months but less than a  year then you need to pay the road tax but you do not need to register.Anything more than a year means tax+re-registration.
- The laws are suited for RTO agents so forget about running all these places on your own. I had a month with me before I joining my company in Pune so I could afford the time. Plus of-course I had to take help of a RTO agent but the funny part is you have to be physically present at RTO to do the registrations. So practically you pay the agents to give you information about what papers to bring and putting all the papers in a fancy file.

Here are some docs which are accepted as address proof :
- house registration doc.
- electricity bill/telephone bill (only MTNL/BSNL no Idea/Airtel accepted)
- you house lease papers.
- pass-book of a Nationalised bank.
- pasport/DL.
- If you are staying with ur relative etc a declaration by ur relative on a 20rs stamp paper which state "I am (relatives name) and (your name) is living with me and I have no objection of using my address for his address proof". This the RTO aent can get done.

Just to give all of you a ball-park figure I spent about 10000Rs for registration of bike and about 35000Rs for registration of car. These amounts include taxes and under-the-tables.

Hope you all find this info helpful.

Thanks Vikrant.

My only concern was 7.5% tax to be paid again. I have already paid around 40K road tax in bangalore and now this pune guys are agaiun asking for 30K here as road tax. Is there any way that you can claim the road tax already paid there in Bnglr RTO?

Anyways, the way you are putting information and details you are providing is really helpful and show how caring/helping you are.

Thanks a lot...

Hi All,

I have got all the things done myself only for bike Re Registration.

Agents were asking totally irrelevent amount, (somebody 11K, somebody 5.5 K) etc etc

I will post  a detailed note, on how I got all the things done sequentially.

First of all I have uploaded Softcopy of the forms needed for Re Registration at the link given below.

Form 20, 26, 27, 33, FT

(Chasis no TRACE on these all forms is must.)

   http://www.4shared.com/dir/6728271/e67e26b1/sharing.html

They need 2 Affidavit also, one for "Vehicle Not Stolen" & second for Residential Add is correct.

Format of these Affidavits will also be uploaded latest by Tuesday(Apr 29).

Regards Abhi

Hi All,

The list of documents needed for Re Registrtation of Vehicle, shown below, was given to me in RTO, Pune. I have mention all the reqd info in red color.

For Registration & Tax Payment of Other State Vehicles

(Given By – RTO, Pune)

1). NOC In Form 28 issued by Original Regn Authority (TWO COPY in ORIGINAL)

You got this from your old Registration Authority

2). Original R C Book

3). Valid Insurance (Xerox)

4). Valid PUC (Xerox)

5). Invoice Receipt (Xerox)

Given to you at time of vehicle purchase

6). Entry Tax NOC, if vehicle is brought in Maharashtra State within “30 Months”, from the date of Registration

I didn’t have to pay this, as my vehicle was 3 Yrs Old. (Actually I waited for a while to complete 30 months to save entry tax)

7).Address Proof of Pune

I gave House Rent Agg Copy + Elect. Bill in Owner’s N<

Hi all,

I have uploaded all the necessary documents at http://www.4shared.com/dir/6728271/e67e26b1/sharing.html

Download all the documnents.

Go to DEATAILED PROCEDURE.DOC. which describes all the the things in details.

Plz let me know in case of any doubts.

I again say, there is abslutely no need of any Agent, if you want to get done the things by you only.

Even if you go to Agent, their commission should not exceed 500/- including all the formalities
