Dear All,

I am planninng on selling my used 2003 jan registered Santro LP. I am the second owner, TN registration.

I want to know if I will get a better price if I sell in chennai compared to Hosur via used car dealers.

In hosur there are only hyundai and maruti used car dealers (maybe a couple more I dont know). Whereas in chennai thare are many used car dealers so due to competition I think I will get better price in Chennai.

Pls give your opinion in this regard ASAP.

Thanks

Hi Arun,

Few things that you should know prior to selling car to used car dealer.

Advantage of selling car to a used car dealer is - Quick sale (money) and hassle free documentation (usually)

Negative of selling car to a used car dealer is - You will not the best value for the car. Typically a used car dealer would give you 15% to 20% less as compared to market rate.

I suggest, if it is not very critical for you to sell it quick, use internet as a medium to get buyers. Please upload your car on Carwale and you should be getting good response form Individual and Dealers as well.

I tried Carwale route to sell my old car and got 15k more as compared to what was being offered by local used car dealer. What I liked in Carwale is that they offer 100% money back guarantee if car is not sold in 90 days (I sold it in 10 days time).

How to get best response on your listing through any online medium?

Remember that Internet is used more for research and people like to read a lot on net. Thus please write detailed description of your car. Upload as many photographs as possible and from different angles.

It's like marketing your product well when buyer has other options to look at. Place your self as a buyer and think whom are you likely to call/consider first - Car with loads of details or car with no or very little details.

How far is your place from Chennai? In case it is not very far I suggest that you should be listing your car in Chennai as more buyers are online from that city. But do mention that car is available for inspection in Hosur. Though I see that there are couple of cars available on Carwale from Hosur as well.

You may also try to list it from both the places (you need to pay twice) as what you get from selling it to individual (more money) is far more that the cost of listing the car on Carwale.
