There are Italian kits, semi-italian as well as locally manufactured kits available. Do consider the first two options only and also, opt for a closed loop or sequential kit as far as possible. In my opinion, Beat is quite low on pickup in some conditions and hence, in order to save yourselves from the power drop caused by CNG conversion, you better opt for a sequential kit. Performance loss is minimal, so you will not face any problem with pickup.

I am suggesting a sequential kit because performance loss is minimised to an unnoticeable extent, and also the kit is suited for modern cars. If budget is a concern, you can choose a closed-loop kit. It is also a good option as it prevents running to the installer every now and then due to tuning problems. Also, efficiency will be increased.

No No you got a confusion there! Let me state the tyes of kits available:

1. Open loop kit: The most basic equipment and the cheapest too. It is similiar to the carburetttor in older cars. The air-fuel mixture has to be adjusted or tuned by the mechanic. Also, the exact ratio that is needed for your car and your local conditions may change according to both external factors like outside temperature etc as well as internal factors like engine temperaure, load etc. This requires you to frequently visit the mechanic or at least get the car tuned as per the requirement. Only an expert convertor can give you a good state of tune. Hence, pickup and performance is a difficult thing to achieve.

2. Closed loop kit: A closed loop system is mainly achieved by adding the O2 sensor or the Lambda, as it is commonly known with an optional timing advancer to the existing open-loop kit. This can enable the air-fuel mixture addjustment automatically, as the demand and conditions go. This is presently a good option against the higher priced sequential kits if you are concerned about the cost. Using a closed loop kit, you can get better economy, better performance compared to an open-loop system.

3. Sequential system: This is the most technologically advanced conversion available aftermarket as of today. They are similiar to the MPFi system in your car. It uses a separate microprocessor based ECU, and taking data from mainly the O2 sensor, alongwith the other conditions like engine temp, load etc , it can deliver precise amounts of gas at the right time, thus giving you efficient combustion. In a sequential kit, performance loss is usually very less. Precise fuel delivery also ensures more mileage.

Price difference b/w open loop and closed loop kit is quite small, mainly the cost of the timing advancer and O2 sensor. The seequential kits are prices on the higher side. For exact prices you can enquire with an installer. You can try out companies like landi-renzo, BRC, lovato etc but some brands are car specific. SO the installer is the best person to ask for the brand suitable for the car.

CNG kits will void warranty in any case no matter who installs it. Just ask your GM dealer if he can do the job and can keep warranty intact. If not, then no warranty.
