I have an Indica DLS, with lots of road noise even at abt 20kmph. I guess thats due to the tyres and so will be getting Acceleres soon. But here I want to discuss noise levels in car cabins and want to knw which cars are best when it comes to noise inside with windows up.

My bro in law has a Skoda Laura diesel....so silent that some even confuse it for a petrol. So very silent even at abt 100kmph. He previously had an innova diesel, again very silent car. want to knw from you guys which cars are super silent .

Lots of factors are contrubuting to this NVH level . Better sound deadning materials inside car , better tyres , better build quality , better air drag ( car design ) & most importantly its engine . Normally when we move from economical to more expensive car , NVH level reduces . More NVH level affects our comfort level .

Last time I drove Merc C 250 D & it has got excellent NVH level . Only wind noise is audible above 160kmph . But one thing is sure - Diesel does have its clatter irrespective of car make compare to its counterpart petrol version.

Yes , all you mentioned are better in terms of NVH compare to Indica DLS.

My Alto LXI, Engine noise audible when idling, I think it is more because of the slight vibration one feels when the engine is on. In busy traffic, I really wanna close the window. Once closed it is silent both on the highway and the city.

Hyundai accent was even more good. Once travelling, I was not even getting the feel of speed. So i checked the speedo from the backseat (my company driver driving the car). It was cruising at 100+. But no noise at all.

I think NVH Level is a little 'subjective'. We unknowingly compare the NVH level of the car with the one which we have driven earlier.

If you ask me then I'd say 'Punto' has got the best insulation from the noise inside the cabin. But look at it this way - This is my first car and to be frank I'm in love with her. Earlier I've driven Indica Diesel, so I find Punto far better.

So, if you want to buy a car then you need to check it yourself and take a final call.

Cheers.
