Thanks for the link.  It has various information on wheels/tyres/tubes etc. & on Nitrogen filling.

Hey Guys,

I had filled nitrogen in my bike 8 months back. I will tell you the difference that I have noticed -

1 and only 1 ) I dont have to check my tyre pressure every fortnight Smile

Really, till now I have checked tyre pressure only 4 times after every 2 monts and every time I had to top up the pressure by hardly 1 psi. And that too for free. The guy told me that till 6 months he will be topping up for free. But even 8 months down the line, he checks it for free. So I never bother for tyre pressure every time I head out of city. Now that's a real advantage.

Now thinking from monetary point of view. I spent 30 bucks for this thing. I used to spend 2 bucks every fortnight for checking tyre pressure at local puncture wala guy(I dont know but I normally avoid filling up air at petrol pumps. Just some dumb misconception that they are always in hurry and dont fill up properly). So that means 4 bucks every month and after 8 months it comes out to be 32 bucks. That means my paisa vasool. Cool

Now I am thinking about filling my nw Sparky tyres with nitrogen too. I will ask for the money he charges for car tyres and then decide to go for it or not.

For car, it may cost Rs.50 per tyre.  It may not work out to be economical as in the case of your bike.

But I suggest, like before in this thread, there's no harm in filling Nitrogen - at least once for the sake of first hand experience.

Well. That is also true. As of now, just not getting enough time with my new Sparky Frown .The traffic in Pune is getting worse day by day and as of now I still prefer my bike over car for daily office commute as it saves me almost half to one hour daily.

Would be taking her out over this weekend for some ride and then will top the tyres with nitrogen. Will let everybody know about the experience for sure.

@Sunil, the post (Banwari) quoted by you is dated almost 2 years back.  That time by & large it was termed as a marketing gimmick.  Benefits of nitrogen filled tyres have been discussed thereafter in the discussions that have followed (thereafter).  I trust you have gone through those & my personal experience (recent) & views.

Though it may not be a marketing gimmick but the fact at large is that long term benefits and improvement in ride-quality & handling are negligibly felt/observed in city drive in particular, and therefore, such users can conveniently ignore it - especially in view of the cost factor involved presently (here it is Rs.50 per tyre for 6 months).  It is, however, recommended for people who undertake more or frequent highway/long drives.

You, being a technical person from the industry concerned, may term my/our views & findings inappropriate or incomplete – but it's expected of you to put it modestly instead of stating something like “don’t misguide people” – like you have said in the case of Banwari.

And it’s my sincere request to you – please take this in the right perspective; no offense meant.

Like Binoy has suggested, I too welcome you to CarWale & request you to share your views & experience with us.  Even if we disagree, there’s nothing wrong in it as far as the discussion is meaningful.

Hi friends,

Sorry for the delay in replying you. We have already supplied the system and these system have been tried and tested by the companies and they getting a very good results by using Nitrogen.

Previously the awareness about the use of Nitrogen was among few people. If you really want to know the facts on Nitrogen kindly give a test mail on my id *******

we have all facts and figures on Nitrogen Tyre inflator system. Test report on temperature difference savings, etc.

bye take care.

Got nitrogen filled on all the 5 tires (including stepny) a month before. It cost me 100 rs. overall in Pune near Hinjewadi Chowk HP petrol pump.

Till now the air pressure seems to be ok. Will just check it out in next month.

Yep! I did deflate them completely before re-filling the tires with nitrogen.

Guys i never thought when i started this thread on #1 04-Feb, 2007 01:11 AM  , some guys would do research on this subject and put things in perspective.........Thanks for all

i've been using nitrogen for my Fiesta's Michelin XM1 TYRES for almost a year now and top it up only one in 3 months,as there's any drop in PSI observed before that...

I've observed one thing for sure

observation :Wheels tend to get locked sooner while you do a high speed emergency braking esp on smooth roads in highways,,with nitrogen fill than when you have normal air... Any one out there to take this head on ?????????

Looking forward to your findings and expert comments

You feel so (braking) because nitrogen filled tyres offer slightly better handling/road-grip.  The difference (slight/whatever) is felt more on highways (observed/discussed in my experience narrated before).
