After going through all the discussions I have dropped the idea of fitting an AC to my Omni. Instead I have spent the same amount for fitting LPG. It is working fine. I thank all who have taken intrest in my discussion.

Come on, if one starts bothering about these things, what about all the modifications that people do to their cars? Do they register every change?

Mr. Pradip,

In the Registration Certificate Books (Blue Books) of cars registered in the state of West Bengal there are columns for whether an a.c. is fitted and whether a tape recorder is fitted.  Cars with the these features attract a higher road tax.  Cars with after market fitments are fined heavily in case of any deviation in documentation detected during sporadic spot checksby traffic police or Motor Vehicles department. Pl. check with the RTO in your state on the applicable rules and what measures you will have to take to regularise your vehicle's papers in case you decide on proceeding with your proposal.

Well Ac on a omni is possible. i have it on my 95 model omni. been enjoying the cooling for the last 11 years. only thing is that i had a very good mech who helped out with all the alterations. you need to do more than fitting a AC on to the omni. i did have heating problems and then with the battery and then with the dynamo. set it right and its perfectly fine. its gas based and with the AC on i get about 12.5/L to this day.
