This question confuses me a lot too

I think that Accent diesel was doing quite all right

Like they retained a model of Petrol I think that one diesel model should also had been retained and priced around 6 lacs then it would also had sold well

Pricing for Accent CRDI was not comparable with new cars having same specification . Instead they prefer Verna with some modification which was new version of Accent . India is the only country where Hyundai is selling Accent as entry level sedan . It is simple Product Life Cycle & it applies to Accent also.By having only Petrol option makes it price viable.

my name is Shersh yaarEmbarassed

yes, they got the pricing wrong for hyundai but it deserved to stay

as they have stripped down their petrol version and kept it going they should also had retained their base diesel model in my honest opinion Cry

Sorry Shersh,

I agree with you they should have retained diesel model too as it was doing good and would have done well now too.

I too think Hyundai should have retained Diesel Accent.

I think the only reason they dropped it because it would have eaten market share of Verna or as a matter of fact i 20 too.

whats the price of i 20 CRDI??

Accent CRDi reportely had problems after 50k kms. I do not know the exact nature of problem/s but that is one of the reasons why they never revived it after the emission norms changed. Other reasons are already mentioned by Ashish. I shall try and see if I get some info on the problems with the CRDi. Would be interesting.

Sridhar, I agree with you. Our accent diesel had a huge maintenance record. However, we had beaten it up till 1.4l kms, after which it was unbearable to maintain! The motor was manufactured by detroit diesel whose parts were also very costly.

One more reason ibviously was to bring in the next gen accent aka verna into the market.

Just tried fishing some info from the web and found that many of the engines stopped working/ceased causing an engine failure at around 80k kms requiring engine work on them, the cost of which ranged between 50-80k bucks. Also others have reported that the NVH characteristics became worse and after the overhaul. So these could be the other reasons
