Looking out for a diesel car.

Palio D 1.9 ELX is one of the option, the first being Swift.  Would like to know inputs on the Palio D.

  • How is its performance, mileage, maintenance costs?
  • With Tata and Fiat now joining hands, would service be better and more accessible?

Fiat Palio Diesel is not available in Tata-Fiat or Fiat showrooms as of now. I am afraid, it might go out completely or Fiat may come with a newer model.

The current Palio D has good build-quality, space and fuel economy. But it's sluggish and is a bit high on maintenance as well. Tata is distributing Fiats now, conditions are better but I'm still waiting for the day when we will be able to say that Fiat service is satisfactory.

If you have plans for keeping the car for a long time and don't bother about resale, I have thumbs up for Petrol Palio. Diesel Palio is avoidable. Check-out Swift Diesel.

hi.

now the new palio stile has come & fiat is not offering a diesel engine in it yet may be they launch it after some time. swift diesel is good at performance but u have a family of 4 or 5 & need some rear leg space & some boot space than the swift is not for u because the swift lacks on this 2 points. if u can stretch ur budjet a little than u can look out at the new renault logan it is a good car with diesel engine very spacious & good boot space. it is just a little expensive than the swift but worth buying. at this price it is a great value for money.

well... i almost read.."Tata is DISTURBING Fiat's now... instead of the word *distributing*.  Sorry, bad joke..... but reality !!...

There's a Fiat Palio 1.9 D at my place.... and it keeps STAnding !!.... everytime you call up the people... the TAta ppl come in scratching their heads....either they don't have full knowlegde yet or its complete mis-managament.....  i feel Fiat is probably losing out on business because of that.

And about the Car...its okay till about 40,000-50,000.certainly NOT after that !.....Typical Diesel, just that its a bit powerful....

my suggestion.....go for SWIFT.... even if the Diesel Palio is available... Don't go for it.

Hello:

would you have any comments on Fiat Siena Diesel 1999 model? A local dealer is offering it - It has A/C, Power steering, power window, and shows 90,000 kms on it. Firstly, is it a good car to buy. Secondly, what can be a good price for it. (considering that it may not find another buyer, plus the cost of maintenance, spares which are higher for diesel). I have personally seen the car and it seems robust and in good running condition, i liked the internal space. I am aware that there would be other cars at the same price, but if i get a really good deal - i may be interested in owning this beast. I would like to use this car for the next 3 years and running approximately 20000 kms in the next 3 yrs. Would appreciate your comments.

I suppose, maintenance & spares will be high. Regarding the price you should be paying, I suggest you use CarWale Car Valuation tool - go to My CarWale > CarWale Used Car Valuation or through My CarWale > Buy Car > Used Car Prices / CarWale Car Value > CarWale Used CarValuation, and fill-up the requisite information on the Year of Mfg (month/year), make, model, version, kms driven & your city.

The palio Stile Diesel is expected here withing 3 - 4 months of time and is comming with the same engine used in the swift deisel that is the 1.3 Multijet Diesel engine , and one can expect the prcining fo Palio stile Disel to be lower around 30- 40 k than th Swift Deisel
