Ikon alternator problem please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I own a ford ikon 1.6. Yesterday the battery sign of my car was ON and after few kms car stopped and was not able to start. Local mechanic said it could be a problem with the alternator. Please let me know if it could be some other problem and if its of the alternator only then how much does the alternator for ikon cost. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well alternator could cost between 7000 to 10000 depending on brand...

Not sure but if there's a fuse for the alternator check that. If its blown then it will probably be a cheap thing to replace. However I don't think that the alternator has its own fuse (maybe the battery doe...).

To determine if the alternator is faulty, start the car with another battery - if the battery light stays ON its probably the alternator that's shot.

But if the light turn OFF then what could be the problem?

I faced the same problem, battery light turned on and after few mins of drive car stoped. 

The problem is with alternator.

can somebody please tell me, alternator we need to replace with new one or any option to repair the 

existing one???

Are you sure that the Alternator is defecive?  Alternator could be repaired.  Locate a local Auto Electrical workshop and get the job done.

You can get an alternator repaired at a less cost compared to buying a new one, especially if the fault is minor. So, get the alternator removed and checked. Then, depending upon what the magnitude of the problem is, you can either replace or repair the alternator. Also, the original alternator for the ikon is a 10k+ fix. So, it would be a great saving if you can get it repaired.

Repairing saved a lot in my old zen. But please make sure the mechanic uses original spare parts or probably from any other OEM supplier
