Kindly let me know which is the best paint protection to preserve the shine and gloss of a new car.

Team-bhp advises against teflon coating.  3M has a paint protection treatment but speaking with one of their executive in the workshop I doubt whether the 3M paint protection treatment is anything different from a ordinary teflon coating.

Members who already have done paint protection treatment for their cars please advise.

thanks

Regarding paint protection, a lot has been discussed about coatings etc. I dont want to start it off again as almost all the treatments are nothing but rubbing and polishing. Gentle washing with soft water, periodic waxing, ocassional rubbing treatment will keep the car as good as new. Here are some important points:

Washing should be done gently without the use of strong soaps and shampoos. A clean and very soft cloth should be used to wipe the car dry. Do not force stains out of the surface. Apply a mild soap over the area, leave it soaked for a few minutes. It will loosen and just spray water, it will run down. When there is a lut of mud and soil, never wipe the car as this will cause minor scratches which make the paint go dull after sometime. Instead, use soapy foam to cover the entire area and as said abouve, leave it for sometime. It will loosen.

Do not leave bird droppings for a long time. As soon as you see it, wash it off with a soap solution, as this will neutralise the action of the acids present. Usually, if the car is waxed once in two months or so, these droppings come off very easily.

Parking the car in a garage, or at least under a shelter, helps in a big way in maintaining shine and gloss of the paint by protecting it from the extremities of the weather and dust.
