@Rachit, a small correction to be made. The Review states that its a VCDi engine, however it is supposed to be a TCDi engine. Please verify the same. VCDi term is used for A Variable-geometry Turbocharged Common-rail direct injection whereas for a fixed geo. turbo, its just TCDi.

@Rajesh, what more can you expect out of a puny, 3-cylinder 936cc diesel engine? You cant compare this with the other diesels, as the engine itself is a younger sibiling of the 1.3l fiat engine. So, if the 1248cc diesel can bring a power output of 75bhp, with a cylinder less, its 1248/4 * 3 = 936cc. Same way, if we calculate the power output, 75/4 * 3 = 56.~bhp. Hence, for the engine capacity, the power o/p is justified. Coming to the miileage, it very much depends upon other factors PTW ratio or torque  fugures. I think that a little research on what other cars weigh and what power they have will give you a clear.

I do not opine that this car is a road rocket but, if i am a future buyer of the car, i cant ask for more

@ Sankalp

You are right on this. I am not complaining on power output. Infact this is first diesel engine which has capacoty below 1 liter. 58 BHP is not very less. Nissan Micra just have 5 BHP more inspite 1.5 liter engine.

Earlier tata Indica had only 53 BHP engine out of 1.4 liter diesel engine. It was very slow.

tata nano diesel could be other car which may get below 1 liter engine. Tata is developing 700 CC engine for nano.

My point is, most companies are giving poor performance diesel cars. But many buyer will not have problem with this as most would drive only at 60 - 80 kmph speed.

They could have tried with weight reduction by 30 - 40 kg for this car.

Driving is privilage, not a right.

Its not a VCDi but a TDCi, even the badge on the car states the same that its a TDCi.

Its seems that price of Beat and Figo is same.......... Then I think Figo would be the better chioce as comapre to Beat......... if we see it from VFM angle..............

Beat diesel if priced similar to Figo diesel would be a perfect recipe for disaster. Figo is a better choice compared to beat in their diesel avtaars from all the angles. Even the neutral looks of Figo appeal to a wider audience. The USP of Beat diesel is in being the frugal city runabout at prices seen never before in diesel hatch segment. GM would certainly wont miss on this one.

Sorry for the late replay. The LT model will cost 5.2 to 5.4 L on road.

Hey,

Roy, I am pretty sure the guy told me 5.83L for the diesel LT on road in Nasik . There can't be such a huge gap my friend! maybe only time will tell.
