Country’s leading luxury car maker Mercedes Benz is all set to launch its new generation G–Wagen (Gelandewagen) in India to mark Valentine’s Day celebrations. The car will be rolled-out in a small ceremony at Juhu Aerodrome in Mumbai. The Mercedes Benz G–Wagen is known globally for its utility value and solid build. In a bid to grab all the attention, the company has set up a test ground for the car where its potential will be tested in front of general public.

Initially rolled-out as an army vehicle in 1970, the G-Wagen’s first civilian version was launched in year 1979. Since then the car has been through a number of changes and up-gradations, getting anti-lock brakes and electronically-locking differentials.

At present, the G-Wagen is available in two variants in the US market including G550 SUV and the other is G55 AMG. The G550 comes powered by a 5.5 litre 5.5L V8 engine that is capable of producing a peak power of 382 bhp. The variant comes mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission and has a seating space for five adults and two children. The car is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 50 to 60 lakh in the Indian market.

In fact actual price Ex showroom Mumbai is more than 1.05 crores !! & Company is saying that they already had booked 10 cars .

Frankly it doesn't look that much costly . Looks are very similar to Sumo & Balero though Merc is original .

No doubt about that but even in that price range all premium brands are available like Rover , Audi , BMW , Porche & Merc GL . No doubt about its capabilities but still on road price Smile.

I would prefer Rover over it as it is equally capable .
