Escalade is a good truck. I had it before. Trust me! But it wont be worth bringing to India. It will be mad expensive in price and a gas guzzler. You can actually see the gas needle going down.

I have mercedes now but to have a mercedes in India would be too much expensive. Not that I cant buy but I wont pay too much. Its overly priced. I wuld rather buy an Innova or scorpio I already have a scorpio in India so I should buy an Innova.

Harprit,

In India we have a very bad choice for a luxury SUV. All the so-called SUVs are full of compromises, and some out-and-out luxury SUV would sell here very good.

Remember, driving around in a Pajero meant "I am rich" at one point in time? Now there is a slew of SUVs in the market, from the useless ones (RIO) to somewhat ok (Endeavor) (these are my personal opinions, don't flame me please!), but no SUV with "Haaa! THis has ALL I wanted" response from the customers.

Of course, a CBU imported SUV will not be a middle classer/upper middle classer's choice, but meant for those Politicians/Businessmen who don't know what to do with their money, and are willing to go to any lengths for the luxury they want.

I agree with you Krishna.

Mahindra is a very good company. The only problem is that they need to invest more on R&D. Also remember that those companies are there for a profit. Also I would like to add that Mahindra or Tata is more smarter than us. If they want to they can make a high end luxury SUV but they will not because they know they can sell Scorpio or Safari very well then why invest so much money for a high end SUV.Which I agree. They need to invest some R&D on interior designing. I mean look at interior of scorpio. Its so shitty!!!

Scorpio is a good SUV but only if its ride was not too bumpy. Also when they cars in India they make it like match boxes with high head roof clearance. If you can just stretch the car a little the car will surely look so good. It wont look like a match box. The more match box it look like the more rolllver chances are. Eg. land rover. Dont mix it with range rover. I had land rover and it was so rollover capable. It was a gas guzzler too. It wasnt worth it.

Anyway, my era for SUVs is over. Now I prefer luxury. After all, you will be more time driving the car (and would look for luxury). You wont be off road all the time.

I would not pay anything that is over priced. Stop paying too much for these over priced cars and watch the price go down the next day.

Its too much work for me to do. SOmeone needs to volunteer Different dealers different prices.

Dude! I opted for an E320 model but there was no bluetooth. I asked for bluetooth and they raised the price for $3000. I was so mad that why would mercedes not have bluetooth as a standard feature whereas all other companies like nissan, toyota, honda and acura have it as a standard feature. I mean why would I pay 3000 extra just for bluetooth when I can buy an external bluetooth speaker for $70 and use it my car. I got up an walked out of the dealership. The salesman called the manager and they called me back to the office and negotiated and finalized it at 1500. I was not going to even a single cent to get the bluetooth. I would not pay something that is not justifiable. But my wife was with me so I thought what the heck. Lets just get it.

Mercedes and BMW they had the same interior from many years and never bothered to change it. Until recently from 2005 or 2004 mercedes started changing the shapes of their cars and revamped the interiors. I just hate the interior light color of BMW and Audi. THe yellowish kind of interior (I mean where the meters are) just makes me so depressing. THe thing is that these companies never bothered to change it knowing that customers are buying it anyway.

I still dont know why people consider Audi as a luxury car? To me  its just a normal car. I do not see anything extra in it that calls it a luxury car. I mean hyundai is making too good models these days. Look at genesis and look at 2011 sonata. THey offer 100,000 miles warranty also. I mean who gives it in this economy. It means that if Hyundai is proud and believe in their product then only they are offering such a deal. Its much cheaper also. I would prefer to buy Hyundai next time. Thats the one car I havent owned. So I wanna try it. Also look at Honda Accord 2011. Its a nice car too. I like the interior too. Lexus has nice interior too and its a luxury car. I dont understand why Infiniti always come with the stupid shapes, the lights in the back and the front, are just weird. But dont know why people still like it.

Its the brand reputation that sells.

You can I guess go to this link and check the prices yourself. I guess it should work.

@Harprit - very eager to hear from your side. Hope to hear soon.

@Krishna - point noted. Guess did it by mistake

@Mike - Not sure which model of the Cadillac they plan to launch here as there is no mention of it in the article but I doubt if they would go for a model way down in their product range or way high in their product range. Their Cruze is also doing well in India giving them positive indications. So right now it would be difficult to predict which model they would be launching. Between they had launched the Cadillac here in UK sometim back for around 30,000 pounds if I am not wrong. Jeremy Clarkson from Top gear had even reviewed it and did not not much positive about. The reason could be anything and I would not want to go into that aspect. Cadillac might be very comfortable to travel in but most of the times it has come out to be sluggish and 'laid back' and this can probably be attributed to its built quality and body weight. The German and Japanese cars on the other hand are very nimble and that is why they find a better market. The other reason is also the price. For the price the Cadillac was launched in UK one could opt for a sports car (not sure which one was mentioned). In India it might still click slightly on the 'exclusivity factor' for those who want to own a car which is something different. Apart from that I do not see a reason why it will click bigtime. The Escalade is one hell of a car which again cometyes with the likes of Tahoe. I doubt of the Escalade will be driveable on Indian roads apart from the highways and expressways.

Harprit, do not use objectionable language on the forums. Please go through the forums rules before posting.

When you said you had owned the cars I thought you did them in India. No point in comparing the maintenance you spend in the US and the maintenance costs in India.
